Maybe an unpopular opinion, but why change the current arrangement? It seems to work very well for all participants. Norway is already an EU member in all but name when it comes to applying the EU based regulatory standards. There's also freedom of movement. Meanwhile Norway can keep its independence in a few key areas that are of importance to it, including fisheries and an independent currency. Unlike the UK or Switzerland this is a solid basis for long term cooperation between trusted neighbours. If Norway decides to join they should be welcome. But until then the current arrangement is perfectly fine already in my opinion.

Theres talk of adopting the euro regardless of membership status whether that is just binding our curremcy like the danes or actually changing. Our currency is a joke and with the euro gaining momentum as a safe haven currency we will be left even further behind with our oil based currency. We lose sovreign control of interest rates and money supply though and im not too sure how well that worked for eg greece....
No, I think that having more standardisation is key. Just join as a full EU member, and everything will be easier. Why bothering having your own currency when we can all have the euro?
But the fishing industry and agriculture would be wrecked
Edit: we would have to give up fishing rights to the EU, which will not be a good thing for smaller fishing communities on our coast.
Our agriculture would have to compete with large scale EU-producers, which do not have to deal with harsh winters like we do.
Just downvoting instead of sound arguments is very productive /s
Im mostly all for joining the eu, but that is my main concern. In a time where war is more likely than in a long time i do not want to have what little agriculture we have be destroyed in the name of economic efficiency. Fuck that i dont want to starve. Eu should recognize the importance of local production of critical products in case supoly chains break down (especially for us who are separated from the mainland and could be more easily blockaded off by russia in case of war).
Let us keep these things and the no-side would lose some of their most important arguments....
The thought of Russia trying to blockade all of Norway's coast had me chuckle. It would be a hilarious clusterfuck and they'd need to "retreat as an act of goodwill" or something, to the bottom of the sea very fast
First: regardless of their capabilities it is still easier to block off supply routes from mainland europe to norway than eg between germany and france.
Second: lets perhaps prepare for a worst case situation and not make arrogant assumptions of their capabilities 5, 10, 15 years down the road? If we kill off our agriculture now to join the eu, we cant simply rebuild it if russia (or someone else) suddenly poses a real threat to accomplish such a blockade in ten years. And at this rate i would not rule out that it would be china or even the us doing the blockading - the world is a-changing, and assumptions is the mother of all fuckups.
Because their coins have holes in them and it's awesome.
Just old farts being naturally (not without covid help though) replaced with people with demand for future, I wish brexit voting was delayed.
Does -54% to -9% from 2015 to 2025 mean -9% to +34% from 2025 to 2035 if the change continues at the same rate?
In a couple years, the approval will reach over 100%!
This has to be one of the worst graph designs I've seen since the Alpecin ad. It took me a whole minute just to figure out what data was what.
This is last months numbers. The current is 35% I believe.
Also wrong community
Cool, but probably better to post this in one of the Europe subs.. not here in BuyEuropean
Turns out they're a mod here ๐
They probably just misclicked in the community selection dropdown..
