MY NAAAAAAME
IS GYOUBU MASATAKA ONIWA
This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.
Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:
[BB] This enemy is so difficult!
or
[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

AND AS I BREATHE
Sekiro is absolutely better than Elden Ring in every aspect.
Bosses, level design, pacing, combat and lore.
All of those were sacrificed to make the game open world and generic.
I’m all for making games accessible, especially for people with disabilities but Elden Ring isn’t more accessible as a lot of people want to call it, it’s been dumbed down and gentrified.
Sekiro is peak Fromsoftware, and it's absolutely criminal that we didn't get a DLC for it.
Same with AC6. Fromsoft keeps winning
My big issue with AC6 is that the method they EXPECT you to win with is not explained. Stability damage is not explained until AFTER you beat the "tutorial" mission, which is just bad design, and expects you to have played a FromSoft game with that system in it. If you're like me who's coming in from Verdict Day WITHOUT having played a Souls game, it's just a rough fight.
Honestly why I loved the game
This, but the first boss is Genichiro
Just proves the point tho. I p easily win my fights against Tutorial Genichiro now, because once you know the combat system, he's a really easy boss. He just seems like an impossible monster the first time you fight him because the combat system takes a little while to click and become second nature.
when it clicks, it starts feeling like a rhythm game, like a dance between two nobodies fighting over nothing at the end of the world...
I was replaying Sekiro recently after not playing it since release, thought I could at least put up a fight against tutorial Genichiro. Needless to say, I got my ass handed to me in under a minute.
I've seen people beat tutorial Genichiro (all no-death runners do it), but it's more challenging without the mikiri-counter
