Instead of listening to some lady in a cave tripping on fumes and interpreting her hallucinations, they are huffing their own farts and interpreting the hallucinations of an LLM they wrote they wrote to be a racist sex chatbot for incels.

High CO2 levels are known to negatively impact the brain's ability to think and feel.

Just something to think about. 😊

Iirc a Harvard study about 10 years ago found cognition began to be hindered at about 500ppm, with the insides of skyscrapers getting around 2000ppm.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, and indoor air circulation isn't getting any better. As atmospheric concentrations increase, indoor concentrations will also increase many times over.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

We're getting pretty close to 500 ppm these days... this-is-fine

[–] [email protected] 21 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, and that's just outside. Interiors of homes are almost certainly at least 800ppm or so.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago

I stopped doing it for some reason, but when I lived in another home I used to keep all my windows open at all times, just slept with the ceiling fan. I was doing it with the purpose of keeping CO2 levels low because I knew of the effect it had on cognition. That was during lockdown and college was online at the time, so I feel like it may have made a difference in helping me stay on top of things while doing online learning. At least there was a placebo effect from knowing I was doing something that would give me a leg up.

Intelligence is made up. It doesn’t exist. It’s an idealogical tool used to enforce hierarchies.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

So what you're saying is that intelligence is... artificial?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)
[–] [email protected] 30 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

If you want to split hairs, intelligence as a fixed trait of a person might not exist, but the degree to which people want to learn and question things is definitely decreasing.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

If you want to split hairs even further, it might make more sense to talk about people having different "intelligences" in different skills and areas of life, rather than using "intelligence" as a single, all-encompassing description of all intellectual ability.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Intelligence is like sport. Just because someone is good at tennis doesn't mean they know shit about long jump. It's a skill that people develop over time and it encompasses many different types of knowledge.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 weeks ago

Bro I'm like...

an Olympic decathlete of intelligence.

I got the gold medal in like

math.

and computers! and other stuff.

Sorry that you can't get good a real sport like crypto and need to play "di-eclectic materialism" or whatever. Like who even cares about being good at ping pong?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I don't think that's true...
