Aside from the tropes that were the major plot arc, I found Picard to be an enjoyable watch.

What else are people hating on it for?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 days ago

First season had promise.

Second season was awful, a two-part episode stretched out to a full season.

Third season was too much fan service. I love me some fan service, but I really think it was a detriment to the season. Ro Laren never should have been allowed back in Starfleet, but they brought her back just to kill her off. I would have liked to see a new antagonist besides the Borg and especially the Founders, the latter of which was never a Picard nemesis in the first place.

Old Data. Just why? Data has died twice, can we let him rest? It cheapens each of the two deaths beforehand.

And on top of all that the most interesting original characters, Rios and Elnor, were written off in favor of TNG Season 8.

It's very simple:

Season 1: Mass Effect.

Season 2: We ran out of ideas already.

Season 3: Fuck, fuck, this shit isn't working. Uuuhhh.... We still got nostalgia, right?

Season 1: Fucking Mass Ef-fucking-fect

I lost all interest when an admiral dropped an f-torpedo at Picard.

You loose interest quite easily, don't you?

[–] [email protected] 18 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Oh good. So you missed out on the cartoonishly evil Romulan agents who were siblings and fucked each other a lot.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

Sadly no, I still watched all 3 seasons...out of morbid curiosity.

It's time I'll never get back

[–] [email protected] 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I feel like Season 2 was the "low-buy/no-buy" season.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 4 days ago

S1: We have no idea what we're doing so let's hyper-advance everything

S2: Well they hated S1 so uh, time travel?

S3: Well they hated that so uh, let's get the entire crew back together on their ship and find some other convoluted way of bringing back Brent Spiner

I'm still not decided on which is worse, Picard or Enterprise. But I'd probably choose Picard.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Enterprise at least had the spirit of Star Trek. Picard was just... not that.

"Starfleet could've sent a probe out here to make maps and take pictures, but they didn't. They sent us so we could explore with our own senses."

TNG: You must respect Data's right to bodily autonomy and self-determination!

PIC: Federation's got SLAAAAVES!

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 days ago

Enterprise had some redeeming qualities.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Enterprise has Dr Flox and T'Pol.

Picard has... (I'm blanking on trying to think of something good)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago

Seven-of-nine (I think), I watched season 1, maybe season 2. I feel like I only watched two or three episodes and the rest of that time is lost to the universe, so I'm not even entirely sure what I watched.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 4 days ago

I didn't even care for Picard in Picard, and I love Picard!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Was Enterprise the Quantum Leap one without any Quantum Leap?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It was the dark, gritty and sexual timeline of Star Trek.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago (2 children)

"Sexual" here means only sexually exciting if you're attracted to women. Or noncon mpreg that one time.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You're crazy if you didn't feel the tension between Archer and Shran

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Or shran's left antenna and his right antenna

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

Now, that's a hidden clip series for the credit roll that I would watch.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Implying shirtless Bakula did nothing for you.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Sorry, he did nothing for me.

He was old when I was a kid watching Quantum Leap!

ETA: He's 70 now. I'm not even 40. He's too old for me!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Boy, I hope I look that good at 70.

I don’t even look that good now. :x

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If it helps, I'm sure you'd be more attractive to me, since you weren't a gross grown up on the TV when I was a small child.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Bold of you to call me attractive, sight unseen.

But thank you. :)

(Still not sure what makes Bakula at any age “gross.”)

I haven't watched most of Picard yet except the first few episodes of season 1, but I weirdly picked up this detail from the IDW Picard's Academy comic. I enjoyed it. Maybe not a masterpiece, but it was at my local library and I would read it again just to look at Spock's outfit:

There's just something weirdly fitting about business casual out Starfleet Academy Instructor Spock.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 days ago

That's "Professor Spock", cadet.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 days ago

That’s the same as the clothy casual red uniform Kirk wears during Star Trek II & III. But I guess his is blue because (Captain or not) he’s from the science branch. Or maybe the Academy uses blue while the fleet uses red.
