I hope this meme is making fun of the right person but… I'm not 100% sure (to be fair I'm super tired and sleep deprived).

It's making fun of the person on the right.

Houthis sounds like a Dr. Seuss character

The morals of their stories are much less wholesome, though.

Yeah, I don't think I'd read them to kids

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slogan_of_the_Houthi_movement

The slogan of the Houthi movement (officially called "Ansar Allah"), a Shia Islamist political and military organization in Yemen, reads "God Is the Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, A Curse Upon the Jews, Victory to Islam"

Wow, what do you even say to that?

[–] [email protected] -1 points 8 months ago

Some sources state that it was first chanted at the Imam al-Hadi school in Marran in January 2002, while others claim that Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi used it after seeing footage of a young Palestinian dying in his father's arms during the Second Intifada in 2000

Well it seems like they're confusing Judaism with Zionism. They should be explained the difference because their anger is clearly misdirected.

As for the rest, it's pretty normal if you look up what America has done to Yemen.

"Fuck Off"

"Wow, the Middle East is fucked up" is usually what I go with.

"I wonder what my tax money funds over there... Oh well, I'm sure it's fine."

I don't know enough about the houthis to come to a conclusion about them as a whole, but the specific action of blocking shipping in response to the genocide of Palestinians is based.

"Ha ha, yes, that'll show those third world countries with no connection to the Israeli genocide or its support!"

Their coffee is hella good though.

Am I supporting terrorists by continuing to buy coffee from Yemen?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 8 months ago

Probably, but ethically sourcing coffee is difficult even when the country isn't in a state of civil war.
