A place to ask Canadians questions and get answers. The most obvious questions would be about Canada, but you can ask about pretty much anything; news, current events, society, etc

I don't intend this as an AMA format, but can entertain some. Rules:

  1. Be civil and act in good faith.
  2. No trolling.

If you're voting conservative or liberal or NDP or Green, whatever ...

I didn't sign up for any list. I also heard that you shouldn't text STOP to these messages because they use that as confirmation of my number?

I reported it to spam, I'm just curious if these are legit and how you handle these?

Have had a few, I just block the number

I got one from "Lily" with the same script

A few months ago I started getting these texts from various women asking claiming to be from the federal conservatives, the provincial ones when an election was on and polling companies.

I got one a while back and did exactly the same thing. Don't respond, block the number, report as spam.

I haven't got them (yet). Just use your device to block the number. If you want to register a complaint to the appropriate government department, that's cool. I think interacting with the sender in any way (like texting "stop") will result in you getting more of these messages in the future

I think it's the same. I started getting both kinds of texts at the same time having hardly ever gotten any spam previously.

The best way to turn out the vote is automated messages that mostly just annoy people.
