I'm going to save so much money by not going to the US to buy one of those... I wonder what I'll do with all that wealth.

Only 4.125% of the world population is affected. No biggy.

In future history books: “…But the biggest exodus from the United States was after it was announced the Switch 2 would cost $1000 exclusively there.”

I’ll probably be able to play the games on my pc soon enough anyway

Sony: we‘ll make it a little more expensive for everyone else, so no one feels left out <3

Nintendo: t(°-°t)

Sony: we‘ll make it a little more expensive for everyone else, so no one feels left out

Let me fix that for you:

Sony: We‘ll make it a little more expensive for everyone else so our US sales don't sink harder than a brick in a pond.

Companies really don't care about people feeling left out. Company's fear loss of sales. And that Trumps senseless antics by proxy of Sony make the PlayStation more expensive in my end of the world low key aggravates me, even if it's only 50 bucks.

America voted for this, we didn't.

What you meant to say was
Sony: we'll let the whole world pay for the fascist bullshit the US is pulling <3

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Let me fix that for you:

Sony: we'll let the whole world pay astronomical amounts of money because it makes us rich! And if someone calls us on it, we'll say it's all because of the US!

I wasn't going to buy it anyway with those prices

[–] [email protected] 106 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

That's fine. Nintendo was already planning to impose the Nintendo tax. So I imposed the "I ain't buyin' this shit tax".

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

I wasn't going to get one even if it was £20, but how? Trump set the tariffs. Obviously it's going to cost a shitload more if there is a 145% tariff in the US.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Thanks Trump for adding a 145% "tax" on my electronics. How am I supposed to afford anything now!?

Guess I may as well just go protest instead.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks half the voting country too. You got neighbors who asked for this.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 2 weeks ago (7 children)

Wondering how this is going to play out. A Switch for $600+ is borderline insane.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

Lol. That 600+ is JUST the extra tax. That's on top of the base price

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

145% of 450 is 652, you add those together and it’s essentially 1100$. And that’s before tax at the register in the US.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Its insane that a tax is also charged on top of the already applied tariff.

They will just put the games at 100 each, not including DLC

[–] [email protected] 38 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hopefully gamers get together and protest Trump out of office for artificially bumping up the costs of goods.

Tarrifs = Tax

A tax that working people pay, in the country that set the tarriff.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Out of all the people it’s gamers that will put trump out of office.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Ya? While sitting on your ass? Doubt.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Probably gamers put him in office in the first place. Steve Bannon capitalized on Gamergate and started latching on to it to recruit young white male gamers to the far right. Then these GamerGate proponents became manosphere followers.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

You say that but I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if gamers as a demographic are more liberal than average.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe the general gaming public but probably not among capital G Gamers™ who are the loud minority on the internet.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Guys, the word „gamers” was used too much in this comment thread. Stop.
