Full moon this weekend. Plus hotter than expected weather. Expect weird shit to go down. Not liking the vibe rn. I will be avoiding crowds this weekend.

Went to the gym at lunchtime today. It's 2 doors down, then got some sushi as a treat.

I usually just wander around aimlessly on lunch breaks so I'm glad I'm getting my workout without having to wake up at 5am or get home late.

My kingdom for a chicken stock cube 👑

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I've got chicken, beef and vegetable. And I'll throw in some vegan stock cubes completely free.

My mash is forever grateful 🫡🗡️

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago

Anything other than OXO is disgraceful.

Why can't we buy this style of non-permanent pet door in Australia?

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 points 1 month ago

I would have loved to have one of those before princess got jailed

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Akshully, Bunnings has inserts with dog doors that can be put in floor to ceiling glass doors. Basically a long thin strip with a dog door at the bottom. The one in the picture looks pretty amazing though.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago

They do, I have one I use at my parent's place. But if you don't have a sliding door they are not much use.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 1 points 1 month ago

I don't know, but that is an awesome idea.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago (3 children)

anyone else got that "First hot day of spring" kind of high thanks to the weather?

[–] tone212_@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

Feels like summer, looks distinctly autumn through with the trees changing colours. It's weird but I don't hate not being cold.

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago

A bit, but looking at the forecast, bloody hell it just looks like summer redux - 28-31 from Sunday through to Wednesday?! Throw some cool days in there mang... this isn't the autumn I signed up for 😭

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Nah. It's more "last bit of summer" "what big items can I wash?" before hibernation starts for me.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yep. Definitely wash-the-oodie weather

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 points 1 month ago

Dressing gowns and blankets today 👍

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm gonna pressure wash a rug.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago

Very satisfying.

When this under 16 ban comes in I’m going to lose all the collected art resources I carefully organised and all my YouTube playlists…

VPNs get you banned or shadowbanned but kids under 16 won’t care. They could just keep churning through a bunch of new accounts, the disposability encouraging them to do whatever they want.

But for me when I’m unwell and can’t do much else I spend a lot of time collecting and organising reference photos, art tutorials, and posts with links to free art books. There’s a few years worth that will be near impossible to back up.

And I don’t know what sites will be affected which makes it hard to even try to start migrating.

spoiler(‘Download account’ options never seem to work - I always end up having to go back and do it manually.)

Even if I buy a dedicated external drive then screenshot and paste links it will be hard to preserve sources or keep images and related information together. It’s a mammoth task to do manually and the old fashioned way. Archiving is literally a job. And you can’t go back to look at them without a login.

For the YouTube playlists maybe I can screenshot to be able to find some difficult to search stuff later, or paste the titles into a mega document, but oh man. Not a good solution.

It will also cut me off from a lot of other artists.

This crap isn’t going to do anything but punish disabled people who spend a lot of time online and people who care about privacy.

But that’s the Australian government’s way. Make grand promises (usually involving “protecting the children”) and then do something that doesn’t work - and has unintended consequences.

I have much more to say about that but I’m tired -_-

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

have you tried proton or Tor? They give privacy.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I could but at the moment it might be a bit of a steep learning curve for me. And if it gets picked up as changing where my traffic comes from I’ll probably be banned (so instead of inaccessible everything would just be gone)

It took me nearly a month after getting my psych to fill out uni support forms (which she did within 24 hours of asking) to actually submit them to the uni out of paralysis/shame/anxiety/whatever - I did it this morning and then got a response from the subject coordinator eerily quickly... was out doing fieldwork and told myself I wouldn't read it till I got home because I was fully expecting a "no".

Turns out I got 10 days extension no questions asked. Fucking A. Sat with so much anxiety and avoidance for nothing.

Gonna celebrate by treating myself to an afternoon and evening of yet more PHM. Good good good. Thank!

Got a bit of a headcold going on, so off work today. Went for a slow stroll out in the sunshine and oh my god it was glorious. Takes just a couple of grey days to really appreciate the sunshine.

Now just need the headcold to fuck right off.

gecko frens living on the front porch 🦎🥰

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They are so cute. It’s so nice to have wildlife around! Is it possible he lost part of his tail? The ones I’ve seen have a tail that narrow to a thinner point. Unless this is a different species. It’s amazing how tiny some of them are.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

i do think this gecko has lost a bit of his tail, it's too stubby , a lot of predatory birds around here so that's probably how he lost it

it was such a lovely surprise to see them both 🙂

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago

Love these little dudes even though it's a bit less nice when they're inside the house and leave their poo around (but still so helpful otherwise)

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)
