Idk,.I'm finding it might actually be useful to spread local information if you stick to some local subreddits

Says the person on reddit

[–] [email protected] 65 points 1 month ago (9 children)

A lot of the niche content I like is still on reddit, however I like the people and experience over here on Lemmy more.

Twitter got abandoned 1 month after the fascist bought it. Account deleted 6 months ago.

Reddit is on transition right now. I'm still checking it, but the time i spend there is much less, since i made a Lemmy account.

I use Twitter and reddit for porn, nothing else anymore. People/communities I follow are ghost towns elsewhere. Everytime I point this out, people get butthurt, yet none of them link to their porn profile.

Post the (adorable, lanky, femboy, who has glasses and a thick uncut cock) porn, and as the saying goes, 'they will cum'.

Not judging but why those over dedicated sites?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

It's hard to find places dedicated to foreskin (the /c is just crickets), cbt, estim... tons more. Even harder to find ones that aren't just shells for their onlyfans. I've been checking every few months for the 🐦 I follow to hop to bluesky or mastodon, and only around a quarter have done so thus far. For reddit, where else can I find a vast array of kink content that is getting fresh stuff daily? Like actually, where? I've been searching the internet for a long time, and besides FurAffinity, e621, reddit and occasionally twitter, it's table scraps for any sort of quality kink content.

E: I should also point out that I'm gay, a bit of interest in androgynous individuals, so most places don't float my boat

Well, I still wouldn't consider using Reddit to be near as bad as using Shitter.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Spez would be very disappointed to hear you say that. He would immediately shoot another DM to Elon telling him he's trying real hard to be just like him.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Look...I know we all hate reddit cause they kicked like half of us for no good reason but like....spez doesnt even compare to how evil Musk is

Then again....X is arguably still a better social media platform than reddit is...

Ok nevermind

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No. At this point Reddit is evil because it's censoring anti-fascist content and organizing. It's becoming a Nazi bar just like the rest of them.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

You know what? You are right

Fuck Spez

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Spez is only less evil because he doesn't have enough money to be in the oligarch club. He's just one of their toadies. He'd absolutely be the same way if anyone actually gave him the power they have.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Reddit has been about soft power for a while now. Ever since they scapegoated Ellen Pao, imo. They’ve been changing things relatively slowly compared to Twitter in terms of enshitification, and being more careful about who they piss off at any given time. They’ve become more emboldened ever since they banned 3rd party apps, as now they are allowing bot farms and bad actors that commented on behalf of the admins.

Reddit could be seeing tons of users leaving the site daily, but they’re for sure replacing them with bots to paint a better picture and drive engagement. The same thing applies to Twitter as well. It’s why on BlueSky for instance, I don’t see ragebait dominating my feed due to the more robust moderation tools compared to Twitter and Reddit.

Lemmy has avoided most bots due to the manual approval processes from what I can see. I think Lemmy should strongly consider implementing BlueSky’s moderation tools though.

spez doesnt even compare to how evil Musk is

Nah thats just wrong. Spez has been following Musks orders, so he is exactly as evil as Musk.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

It's just a shitpost. It's poking fun of people being on reddit, with a screenshot from reddit. There's no deeper commentary than that.

I'm only on reddit to bring people here. Because we do have cookies.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How are they gonna eat them through those helmets they never take off?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

Up the butt.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I just occasionally go back to shill for Lemmy. Pretty sure that hurts them more than helps. :D

X, Facebook, threads, Instagram, Whatsapp, Amazon Prime, Reddit

[–] [email protected] 63 points 1 month ago (7 children)

How can you convince anyone to get off these ? Everyone I've showed lemmy to is terrified it's a virus, and what chat platforms are there besides messenger that we can convince anyone to go to? Maybe I need smarter friends, lol.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

One of my phone browsers has warned me that one Lemmee instance is a scam, that doesn’t help if it is happening to others.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Name and shame. Which browser and which instance?

And is it just something like an SSL error (i.e. the instance screwing up), or is it specifically some kind of anti-Lemmy disinformation?

It is a very big ask... For chat i moved to Signal and convinced my closest relatives and friends to humor me and get the app, but they didn't let go of Whatsapp. It's lonely but i enjoy the quietness, and do not miss the endless groups!

[–] [email protected] 30 points 1 month ago

Maybe some government officials will keep you company by inviting you into their war-plan discussions.

[–] [email protected] 60 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What you’re describing is intentional. Keeping people dumb about the tech they’re using while maintaining messaging like “Facebook works day and night to keep you safe” was the point all along so that people don’t understand what they’re doing. Granted that extends far beyond social media, but still

Amazon Prime is the only one that's been hard for me to kick...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That is the one that's killing me too. I just received an email that my subscription date is coming up. I want to cancel, at least my soul really wants me to cancel. But my broken body, limited $$, and limited mobility makes me feel like it would be cutting of my nose. It is really difficult to get to, never mind around, local stores.

No ethical consumption under capitalism.

EDIT: I should specify I'm not saying that you shouldn't try to boycott where you can, just that sometimes doing business with these evil corporations is unavoidable unless you want to live off the grid.
