Lol, I was banned because i said, "If I was inclined, I wouldn't get gender affirming operations, because at this point the medical technology is barely even cosmetically complete, let alone generally functional." And that was enough, even though I'm not a transphobe and think people should be able to make any choice that doesnt directly or indirectly harm or deficet others.

[–] [email protected] -4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, your comment was medically inaccurate and lacking in empathy.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I dont believe either of those claims to be true, how would you support them?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

I think arguing about medical techniques is boring, so let's talk about empathy. You said you wouldn't get the surgery if you were so inclined. I don't think you've bothered to understand what being so inclined means. I don't think you've considered being so triggered by a part of your body that you'd rather die than keep it. That's what the situation is for a lot of trans people. I don't think you've thought about that. I think you've imagined transition as a nice-to-have, instead of lifesaving medical care. You should do more to understand the feelings of trans people who seek surgery.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8099405/

The regret rate is 1%. In the context of major surgery, that's a miracle. You don't get that for hip replacements or heart transplants.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

But I wanted to talk about medical techniques... :(

What do you think my argument here is, I've already stated I think people should do what they want with themselves.

Why are you so insistent that I, what you would call a cisgendered man, change my opinion on what I would do if I were to transition.

Why are you allowed to have any thought or whim you want without disregard for how it might affect me or others, but I have to act as some kind of unilateral compassionate force for every disadvantaged soul on the planet or I'm automatically a "troll".

I can tell you now your own obnoxious behaviour is part of what generates negative views of the transgender community.

You want people to live and let live, try some of your own medicine, you troglodytic accolyte of unreason.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe if you don't want to be judged for your views on trans people's feelings, you could not tell everyone what you think trans people feel.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This is more of the projecting I'm talking about. My opinion was about MY feelings. Fuck you're annoying dumb.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

If I were a cis guy, I wouldn't start online arguments about how I think I'd feel if I were trans

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

That's the dumbest thing I've heard so far to get banned for.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It was "critical of the trans community" apparently.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Well yeah. It's openly critical of the sexual function of people who have had those proceedures. The trans community as a whole are often depicted as mutilated and less functional by transphobes or people who want to devalue them as valid romantic options. Since access to those medical services are actively under fire that critique isn't value neutral and it isn't in the context of what unaltered sexual function is like for people with dysphoria whom often register a marked improvement in overall function from getting over the mental blocks.

The people I know who have had surgeries have been quite happy with the outcome. While it's true the surgery options regarding bottom surgery for trans men require one to make some decisions about what functions to focus on, framing them as ugly and "barely functional" is insulting. Think about what it would be like to hear someone else critique the choices you've made that have improved your life experiences in a way that frames you as deficient and devalued.

Edit : During this comment chain this guy has self identified as a cis man - so to summerize, this is a random guy saying a set of surgeries and care plan created to address body issues he does not experience is not something he would choose because they are subpar. Yup. Real valid opinion right there. Totally not a smokescreen for anything nasty. /s

Please don't fall for this dreck.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So I'm not allowed to say I wouldn't undergo current treatments because I don't think its progressed far enough?

And in your second paragraph, see how you had to add ugly to my statement to make it malicious and false, that is you projecting onto me, not me.

I see your whole comment as a projection of what your thoughts and internalisations are of the current state of medical transition, concious or not.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

And in your second paragraph, see how you had to add ugly to my statement to make it malicious and false, that is you projecting onto me, not me

Ah so "barely even cosmetically complete" doesn't register as you calling them aesthetically displeasing? Fuck off.

The framing as it being a personal choice not to pursue those options are the thinnest veneer of setting yourself up for this reaction to be shocked and appalled that someone would call you out. Even if you were trans yourself framing it the way you did before would register as you being an ass to other people in your community.

Troll behavior.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

He is a good disingenuous troll.

People who undergo affirmation surgery are told all those facts before hand. This person doesn't know the process.

I have a trans Best friend and asked if they just wanted to live as a gay man BECAUSE of the above facts. Thier response was " I want to live as a woman." Living a certain way is more important to some then others.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Call me a troll if you want, I think you're a narcissistic, attention seeking philistine if we're calling eachother names.

My framing is how I feel about the situation, I don't care if it offends, they are thoughts and opinions. If you don't like it, no one's making you respond to me, there are plenty of echo chambers that I'm sure you won't have to deal with any ideas or opinions that arent what you already think.

Go try and police someone elses opinions, because you've failed here.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ah yes, "just stating your opinions" "echo chambers" and the calls that you are being oppressed and policed, that I am both a narcissist and a weak little trans weenie who needs to shut themselves away where I can't hear your big strong ideas.

It's the full right wing bingo card. Do you lot ever get tired of clutching those pearls?

Don't answer I know you will die with those things in a death grip.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

His modlog history also has some lovely 2016 anti-SJW flavour right wing troll cringe in it about cultural appropriation and """reverse racism""", too. Truly a sad person who showed up here with an agenda, try not to let the lowest common denominator here drag down your day, he's so not worth it.

well now that twitter belongs to xAI, maybe it’ll get better management… and start banning nazis again….

[–] [email protected] 55 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Reddit isn’t as bad as Twitter. Though it’s heading that way. But there is an alternative that is 90% as good.

What’s annoying is how stubborn they are about moving over to Lemmy. I know it’s not super straightforward, but it’s also not nearly as complicated as they make it sound.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago (7 children)

Most people use reddit on mobile. All you gotta do is tell them to use on of the many apps and sign up that way. It's stupid easy to do.
