How good is oyster sauce? The good stuff, especially (I'm still on a bottle of Megachef that's lasted me over a year). Lifts up any tired old vegetable stir fry. The perfect balance of sweet, salt, and savoury πŸ‘ŒπŸ½γ€€especially with a dash of rice wine thrown in. Don't need much else.

My partner puts it in the noodle stir fry he makes, along with sesame seed oil. It makes it taste like an amazing restaurant dish 🀀

I love it. I add it to sauteed mushrooms. Special shout out to hoisin sauce. A fantastic little dipping sauce for all meat delicacies.

I love oyster sauce!

Add to veggies or soups with 2 minute noodles and I’m in heaven!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Oh it is such a great addition to 2 minute noodles. But in soups, I have never tried that before... I'm not a huge soup person but I should give it a go in winter. I can imagine it's a nice alternative to stock powder for cheap and easy seasoning

I add the powder packets and stuff and then oyster sauce as well.

It’s quite nice with some flavours but I totally forgot about the stir fry noodles I used to cook with oyster sauce, water, dash of sesame oil, lol bit of sugar from memory, so delicious!

I have eaten too much chocolate custard ughhh

-distant screaming: she's gonna blowwww!-

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

yum

I make this at home, I make instant custard with powder, hot, and then when cooked I add either nutella or a couple of squares of real chocolate

it is so yum

I have read more than half the book on back anatomy/backpain/back treatment . The gist is, "Stop doing dumb shit that injures your back"

I identify with this.

Fun fact: on September 26, 1983, an officer in the Soviet millitary, Stanislav Petrov made a good decision. He oversaw the early-warning system for the Soviet nuclear arsenal. His warning system's computer signalled that five American missiles were incoming. So he had to make a decision - does he report the missiles to his superiors? If he did, the Soviet military likely would launch a retaliatory nuclear strike.

Petrov decided the reports were false. Thank goodness he did, because 2.5 billion lives were at stake.

Actually made me cackle hahah

Miss Moobeans has already settled down a lot. I should have trusted my gut about that antibiotic when her behaviour changed drastically two doses in.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 months ago

I made rice with nuts, some cucumber raita and garama masala burgers.

I can’t understand how we’re going to end up with another Biden v Trump election. And that Trump has a very good chance of winning. Scary stuff.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

I hate politics especially US but I just don't understand how they (Dems) can think Biden is the best choice now. Surely neither of them are anywhere near the best choices to represent their parties. It seems insane to me.

The dems need someone loud and brash who boasts about all the democrat accomplishments and who brutally puts down republicans

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I don't understand why he's allowed to run again, much less why he's not in jail.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Even then he could still run while in jail and pardon himself if he wins too.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

He might not be able to run if convicted? Honestly I could understand why he wasn't in jail if I bothered to read the articles explaining the processes and the complex legal reason he isn't. I just... don't care to spend my time doing that

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Apparently he can as there’s history of convicted people running for president while in jail but both of them lost.

No idea what would actually happen if Trump wins if he’s in jail though. Would be unprecedented.

Today's preserving report: Lots of mixed berry jam made. I'm not sure at this point if it is going to set well enough, so it may be reclassified as mixed berry sauce before labelling. I ended up not doing the grilled vegetables and made 16 serves of overnight oats for the freezer instead, full of lots of yummy summer fruits.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I sometimes reboil jam the next day and use a cheat, I add will add some jamsetta. Of course that means recleaning all the jars again, which is a pain.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I am always happy to have some that doesn't set, I have plenty of things I will use it for. It is much less stress to just let the fruit decide what it wants to be and go with it 🀣

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

very much not a failure, just different. yummy with vanilla icecream and pancakes

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Absolutely. I also make my own yoghurt and use it as flavouring for that, it's also good for swirling though cake or muffin batter.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

It sounds like it could be delicious on the oats too

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I misread that as "delicious on the cats" and was quite perplexed for a while. Oats sounds a much better option. Damn these old eyeballs!
