As someone who does my own basic maintenance on my car, this is why I triple check everything when putting wheels back on.

So the guy was not allowed to drive, and asked a 16 year old without a license to drive instead?

I guess that was just karma right there and then.

Yeah, that’s not very typical. I’d like to make that point.

Well the wheels aren't supposed to fall off for a start

Pretty sure that's a bot account.

Well there are a lot of these cars going around the streets all the time, and very seldom does anything like this happen. I just don’t want people thinking that cars aren’t safe.

The owner of that vehicle has clearly made a lot of bad decisions lately.

I wonder if it's as simple as forgetting to torque the lug nuts, or was the wrong type of rim fitted to the vehicle?

I don't know, to have all four wheels come off makes me think he only put the lug nuts on intending to tighten it after, but forgot to do it.

The description of what happened makes it sound like a cartoon .

EDIT: Actually just reading it again, I can't tell if the wheels fell off or the tyres came off the rims?

Consider that this was written by a journalist, who are often not that bright, what I suspect happened is aftermarket rims were fitted to the vehicle, and didn't fit.

Either way, it would have been the entire wheel most likely.
