These folks appear to be in Republican strongholds. So, their ardent support is in the face of the Trump cult. That makes sense to me. If I was surrounded by a bunch of dummies, I'd probably feel smarter and not justified in my beliefs than I actually am too.
Well they're right in one aspect, the rest of America has lost their minds for sure. The part they're missing however, is that they themselves are also mindless.
