News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

MODERATORS

Thank you Spez for banning my account of nine years for voicing my political opinion! I made many contributions to communities over the years and now you’ve lost that so good fucking bye.

Deleted my 15 yr account yesterday. Hola!

[–] LonstedBrowryBased@lemm.ee 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Nice! All of my Reddit accounts got banned this week too! Including one that hadn’t even made a post in over 6 months!

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

mines got banned early last month because of a suspension, 5+ accts gone.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Do not pass Go.
Do not collect $200.

Nice permanent ban!

I left for much less; A 24-hour suspension. Though to be honest, that was literally just the straw that broke the camel's back.

I got suspended for using the word "retard" in a scientifically and non-offensive context (ex: put bread in the fridge to retard the growth of mold). No way to appeal that obviously retar-- ridiculous decision.

I just stick with rarted instead. It sounds funnier (at least to me) and you can literally say it whenever

[–] glepswizardhat@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

LMFAO this is what happens when ai is used for moderation

[–] GooberEar@lemmy.wtf 14 points 2 months ago

Possibly, but this happened long ago enough that AI probably wasn't a factor. Just good ole fashioned human stupidity and/or ignorance.

All these Reddit bans I’m seeing are insane. At this rate, soon most of that site is actually going to be bots lol

I recently lost my 13 year old account for telling a Nazi troll that their actions have consequences.

Still trying appeals but not optimistic.

Literally thousands of unpaid work done as a moderator of 4 subs during that time.

.... Im so bitter.

Now I'm bitter for you too.

Who is going to create content or mod subs if they kick out all of us veterans?

I’ve been reporting people that hint at violence after I got banned for something that was 1000% not even close to a hint at political violence.. like not even being sarcastic. Anyway, the more banned the more people leave. Silver linings. Reddit era deserves to be over.

Now create another account and repeat the same steps until they ban your IP

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

You get an achievement for that? Cuz I'm eligible.

[–] purrtastic@lemmy.nz 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Still on Reddit? Use a comment and post wiper now, before you get banned.

I use this it doesn't work. In the sense that, to you your post may seem gone. But Reddit can and will restore them.

I use this exact tool when I left Reddit. They restored my posts.

[–] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago

It's not just that. The comment history doesn't go back further than 1000 posts. They are still there when you find an old or saved thread somehow. But the power delete suite uses the comment history and will miss a lot of older comments from a simpler time.

I have said some wild stuff and never been permabanned. What did you post?

[–] glepswizardhat@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

It was what I upvoted not what I posted.
