News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

If anyone is considering the same don’t forget to use shreddit first.

[–] viking@infosec.pub 10 points 2 months ago

Do it on the desktop website, their mobile stuff is broken beyond repair.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Just do something to get it banned.

[–] viking@infosec.pub 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

No, don't. Banned accounts look good in their statistics to investors, like they care about users and enforce strict moderation. Or they shrug you off as part of a bot army or something.

Actual deletion means a conscious act of a user to leave the platform.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

But OP tried that. What else are they to do?

[–] viking@infosec.pub 1 points 2 months ago

Escalate it to their support team.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

i sense reddit will "undelete" accounts in the future much like facebook is doing to show "large number of users"

[–] langsamerduck@lemm.ee 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They won’t let me kill my account either

[–] dan00@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Try from desktop. It worked for me.

[–] Geodad@lemm.ee 26 points 2 months ago

Go on there and state that you believe that Nazis should be punched. They’ll ban your account.

[–] brrt@lemm.ee 11 points 2 months ago

Having the same problem with Twitter account lol got banned 2023 for being nafo embassador but now can't delete the account somehow.

Don't delete your account. There are browser plugins that will edit all your posts to nonsense to fuck up AI models. Be a burden.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They reverted mine before. It's Reddit, if they don't have backups or methods to detect mass edits or deletions, I'd be shocked.

[–] Nunar@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

But the reversion sets them back and requires resources

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

preserving your data is more valuable for them than the time spent rewinding your account back half an hour.

hell, they might even have it as an automated script that fires off after it detects to many post edits from your account or something.

[–] suite403@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Shit. I would have done this.

[–] BaumGeist@lemmy.ml 18 points 2 months ago

Looks like an OS native dialog, which makes me think this is the app? Have you tried doing it directly on the website instead?

[–] caboose2006@lemm.ee 15 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Just get banned. It's pretty easy nowadays.

[–] JeremyHuntQW12@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

No that won't work.

Most likely OP has been shadowbanned so they cannot comment.

[–] viking@infosec.pub 1 points 2 months ago

[–] Excrubulent@slrpnk.net 10 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Yeah, there's a simple code for it, you just have to type "Luigi spez" and they'll handle this for you.

[–] Hupf@feddit.org 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] Excrubulent@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I don't think you're going to get more efficient than "Luigi" right now, which I think might just do it.

Honestly the cultural power that word has right now is inspiring. They are so afraid, and people are seeing that they're afraid, and that has power in itself.

[–] SleepNotRequired@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

All I did was make a scene by arguing with a bunch of circle jerking divas and the power tripping mods got me banned.

[–] wowwoweowza@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Eff you, Reddit

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Maybe somebody spilled beer on the one and only deletion server.

[–] dmMeYourNudes@lemmynsfw.com 10 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I’ve been trying to delete my Facebook for years

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Are people really having trouble with it? I did it several years ago. I recall it being a fairly easy process.

[–] dmMeYourNudes@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I’m gonna see if that link from the other comment works, but I’ve tried a few times and the page to delete your account mysteriously would never load for me.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Are you using a VPN or browser they don't like? Have you tried on a different device? It might be worth trying.

[–] AizawaC47@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

You are not the only one. I don’t know if this will help you but try https://www.facebook.com/deactivate. I also searched on YouTube and it helped to navigate through a long intensive map out of where to click. I hope this helps you out.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Just stop going there. Delete the app, delete the bookmark, and move on with your life.

[–] Kurtagag@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah I deleted the app and the shortcut on the top of my browser and I dont get the urge anymore

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

I stopped browsing on my phone during the API debacle, I'd check in on my computer every so often, then I got sick of all the Reddit-ness of everything, deleted the bookmark, and haven't been back.

[–] segabased@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago

Even when you're banned you have to delete your account. May as well try as an experiment
