Boost was more recently updated on July 14, 2024.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 3 months ago

I'm still using it. Now, some activity would be very much appreciated. Or, if there is no new development, the source code. But it's still the app I prefer to use.

Browser Bois represent 👊

I've been using connect and it's pretty great!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago

It has been great and is the UI that I want to use however it has slowly been slipping downhill over the last year and a half. That last update from this week has fucked more things than it fixed and introduced new issues as well.

I want it to be great. I want it to work properly but the dev is barely active popping in every 6 months or so to drop an update that might make it better but probably make it worse. It was a better app experience 18 months ago, that's for sure.

I've moved over to trying Voyager because of all this and it is the closest to connect I can find so far.

I use Raccoon. I think I like it the best out of the 4 I tried.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Also using Racoon, really nice

This is a clever way to do a survey on user's preferred mobile clients

Eternity has been great all year.

i was a baconreader guy for the loooongest time.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 months ago

Eternity (infinity fork) is still around, but I've been using voyager myself.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

Only used Voyager, Sync and Liftoff from that list but Voyager has been my favorite by far after using half a dozen different ones. I always liked RedditIsFun and it reminds me of that.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Thunder is my preferred client, with jerboa being second

Honestly thunder is perfect aside from being a tad slow to load sometimes. And it seems to have a little more tendency to experience network issues, but the UI is everything I could ask for

Jerboa might be my favorite if it showed full size link previews since I usually engage visually before I engage with text

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago

Another endorsement of Thunder here. Just works, no bloat.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, one of the big fears with moving to a small platform like Lemmy was that the apps wouldn't be nearly as good the Reddit ones, but Thunder is just genuinely fantastic.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

If anything I’d say Lemmy has better and more varied apps than Reddit did.

I loved arctic, but I got a newer phone and now it doesn’t work at all. I can search for a specific post, but nothing comes up for browsing. I’ve been using voyager, but I still miss arctic.

Still using Sync here, what exactly am I missing out on? Tried voyager years ago but coming from Reddit and using Sync for that, it was a pretty natural jump.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 months ago

I was in the same boat; I've been using sync for years. Recently, I've definitely noticed issues with certain instances and comment sections. Search was also completely broken. According to what I've read, it appears to be a version mismatch issue. Since sync hasn't been updated in a year, I've cancelled my subscription and moved over to Summit.

[–] [email protected] 44 points 3 months ago

It hasn't been updated in quite awhile, and I have heard some Lemmy features are still broken - I think some types of inline images and markdown mainly, and some upcoming api changes may break it completely in the nearish future.

Sync is dead? Wasn't that the paid service one?

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

From what I’ve read the dev just vanished but it’s still up. The paid one. I don’t use it tho

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It was the same back in the Reddit days as well. We're used to it at this point

Their direct deposit won’t vanish alongside them though 😝

Works great! Only complaint is that links behind a spoiler tag in the OP don't work.

Mlem is alive and kicking!

[–] [email protected] 21 points 3 months ago (2 children)

We haven't received a stable update in a while but the github repository has been very busy for the final push towards 2.0! The last commit was 5 hours ago 🔥

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I’m pretty keen to see how 2.0 shapes up. I’ve been waiting for stable release before jumping across.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (3 children)

It’s got playable videos, markdown support, guest accounts, search posts and comments, link url support, slick new indicators for accounts, private messaging, keyword filtering toggle, posts now appear immediately in the feed and expanded admin actions.

Mlem has raised a total of $425.07 USD! Any donations are welcome!

I notice there are only 5 gravestones because Sync is just mysteriously vanished, possibly not dead

[–] [email protected] 21 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That's accurate since Sync could come back with an large update since the last patch was on Mar 26, 2024.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'm using Sync now. I think we're used to the occasional hibernation.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Also still using sync. Works great! I honestly hadn't noticed there wasn't an update since my phone is so old that I rarely get updates for anything anymore.
