Labour is being warned it is hurtling towards a “powder keg” confrontation with environmentalists, green groups and a swathe of its own supporters in the next few weeks, amid its claims that “blockers” are standing in the way of economic growth.

A flurry of pro-growth measures have been announced by ministers in recent days as part of a government fightback against claims that the economy is stalling.

The drive culminated last week in chancellor Rachel Reeves’s assertion in Davos that economic growth is more important than net zero. She is now on the verge of effectively giving her backing to airport expansion at Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton.

Miss the ol' days when 'powder kegs' was just racism hate between nations and not just like 3 rich people worsening the lives of the rest.

... no, wait, I don't miss those days, but I hate this too.

How stupid are they? 1) Economic growth is not what we need, we need to tax the shit out of billionaires to give people housing, food and healthcare. 2) Economic growth means sweet fuck all when our towns are flooded, crops fail and people burn alive in their homes.

They're clearly telling you, in no uncertain terms, that they don't give a fuck about society. Never have.

The idea that the government serves the people is a lie made up by those who control it and want you to continue to believe the lie while they rob you and the rest of us blind for their own personal gain.

Every day I grow more and more convinced that Labour's overriding goal is to get Reform elected in a few years

That's literally their function in government.

To give you the illusion of choice when you vote, and to function as a non-threataning-to-the-status-quo placeholder and a scapegoat for the tories to blame everything on before they get in for another term, as the overton window continues to shift to the right.

That's why establishment-keith was put at the head of the party, and why he immediately purged every even remotely left leaning MP.

It's literally how modern democracy functions, by design.

Always has been.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I've known pretty much since Keith took over the party that he's been a Tory in a red tie. My belief initially was that he was just letting the Tories be so shit that he could basically continue to be a Tory and it would still look better by comparison. Now I'm of the belief that his actual goal for years has been literally to get Nigel Farage and Reform elected, whatever public face he puts on, whatever he claims Labour policy is, functionally he is just working for Farage (and/or the people that Farage is working for, we can make a pretty decent guess who that is).

(and/or the people that Farage is working for, we can make a pretty decent guess who that is).

This is it. Those running government are either puppets for, or fully fledged members of, the establishment - the billionaires and multi-multi millionaires, and in our particular hell-hole, the royals and their gentry, who they actually exist to serve, not us. Anyone who makes it up the ranks who isn't, is attacked with everything they have to ensure the status quo isn't threatened.

It's all theatre meticulously played out all to serve one purpose - to keep our rulers in power. And it isn't just here of course, it's the very nature of nation states, and capitalism ramps it up to a whole other level. of oppression and exploitation.

The only way out is to stop abiding by their rules and abolishing their systems so we can build something better from the bottom up.

But we knew this was coming, and the people only now getting upset refused to listen, because they've been brainwashed in to believing that as long as you play by the rules, things will work out (while very deliberately refusing to examine, or even hear, who the rules were written by, and to what end).

I wish I had some faith that this would open people's eyes, but sadly our propaganda machines are simply far too powerful for the truth to get through to most, even when it's literally slapping them in the face.

And so the race to the bottom continues. 😑
