In the history of fascist movements, being mean to them hasn't stopped their political actions or their motivations.

This is a fine thing to do since it's probably best not to associate with people who are inherently dangerous but it doesn't stop them.

There's only one proven way to stop a fascist and their movement.

That alone hasn't stopped them, but it does play a real part. Even just looking at resources alone, it detracts from their movement and its ability to operate. In my country, social ostracization has played a key role at thwarting their propaganda efforts and recruitment events, even reducing their reach in other reactionary circles.

I dunno', I'd argue open war is pretty "mean" to do. It might even be the meanest.

You can't "be mean" to fascists or fascism.

It's a violent movement that seeks to eradicate those it sees as 'other' and to tightly control the rest.

The only viable course of action against true fascism is to respond to it in kind and to not relent.

i'm with you. most of the weak pacifists on social media are horrified at the thought of actual consequences (like death and maiming), but in reality, the fascists on the right don't care about social ostracizing. they were already socially ostracized. that's how we got here. electing obama was an ultimate rejection of their culture and they've been bent on punishing us ever since.

yet, the cowardly left thinks they will fight back with words. there is only one tool that is effective now: guns.

"The left" loves guns. You're thinking of liberals and Democrats when you think of "leftists" that don't like guns. They are not leftists. That's not even a No True Scottsman: Even Bernie Sanders is barely "left" in the global overton window and the dems shunned him faster than the harlot showing up to church. The US is just a conservative hell hole right now...
