That doesn't even take into account that modern games also have larger budgets compared to back then.

It also doesn't take into account how much more they make even at the lower price points

If game companies want more money for their games they can start by cutting the worthless CEOs, not raising prices

Actually around half the budget of an AAA game is just marketing cost. Which feels wasteful, but if you need to recoup hundreds of millions it might be necessary.
