As much as I love things like satire, subtext, subtlety, allegory and allusion I am beginning to feel that their use in anything meant to be remotely popular is problematic and this sort of reinforces that. It seems like you need the most overt ham fisted cudgel over the head plots with wholly unlikeable, physically unattractive people as the baddies and beautiful dumb as rocks people as the "heroes" to spout unambiguous cliche one liners in order for the thing to not be grossly misunderstood by the average American. Like Team America was just straight taken unironically as a "we should really do that" blueprint instead of a criticism-by-edgelords satire. No need for parody, we already live in one. SMH.
