That's all the characters. I thought Saw was preparing to do something huge with all the setup it got. I thought there was going to be another heist with the fake twist / double twist thing with the decryptor device. Then he just disappears from the story. He didn't add anything at all. Devoting all that time to just cramming Rogue One characters into the show was so creatively bankrupt. Even just him springing a trap for the empire when they showed up after the mole would have been something.
I thought the decryptor was a red herring for the audience. You think it's a bomb because they keep talking about getting blown up if it goes wrong. But in the end it's just a key for the space gas station. That's what allows them to steal fuel from the pumps. Saw explains that he put out a rumor they were going to attack the pipeline far away. He did that to distract the Empire while he went the other way and stole their fuel. By the time the cops figured out it was a false lead, Saw and the group were already hiding in a new location.
Saw didn't need to be in the show at all. He doesn't do anything
There almost certainly WAS something those episodes are written to build for, which they just didn't do cause of time, but without finding a satisfying reason for keeping that thread in at all.
If saw hasnt a completed arc and they somehow couldnt fit/cut other things, then saw shouldnt be in season 2. A lot of characters kinda disappear and its not really due to a satisfactory end of their arc. Like they cut a scene of perrin confessing to mon, that he knows she has been founding a rebellion and that he would have supported her! Like thats an actual resolution!
That's my point. They kept in arcs from within season narratives, with seemingly little adjustment.
I love shows that overstay their welcome, so I was happy to hear that they were going to stop at 2 seasons on that basis. I think it would have been healthy to go for three seasons, though.
Agreed 5 seasons would be too much. 3 seasons would be enough.
