Kinda sucks that this stuff still hasn’t been addressed.

I’ve personally known people that have been told that they are “too old” for things like jobs or uni admissions in China. I’ve seen the job postings that recruiters put on apps like wechat as well and some of them will even say things like “female wanted” or “female European only.”

The vid also mentions 996, which is technically illegal but it happens all the time. Know a few ppl who used to work this schedule.

I think in terms of things like infrastructure (e.g. high speed rail, etc.) China is doing pretty well. But when it comes to things like ageism, racism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination they still have quite a way to go.

I was talking to someone on xiaohongshu about 996 and they said that 996 is like, a sprint thing and then they usually work 40 hours a week? They said they did 996 twice in their life (and named out some years and months, it was like 1 month at a time two times) Frankly I know people at my job who work 996 and more here in America, for about as long. Not sure what the truth is though

In america it's not mandatory, just heavily recommended!

I knew so many fathers who would be at their kid's soccer games on the weekends with a bluetooth in their ear yapping about shit that didn't matter.

Hell, there's a scandal every other month where companies tell their employees to come in early but not to clock in until their scheduled hours.

Or people who clock out on time but have to stay a couple extra hours to get their work done on time.

For sure. I’ve done weeks where I put in 5x15s or whatever. It’s terrible and definitely happens here in the US
