Do you just automatically get owned by Russia once you hit a certain level of fame/wealth/influence?
Or is this just like those people wearing ear bandages to emulate their Dear Leader?
Since wealth and corruption are two sides of the same coin it's not that surprising, I think.
I also assume that russia as make it a art to get blackmail on powerfull people "just in case" and you don't become rich without a lot of skeleton
All they need to do is just fund people to create the blackmail, conservatives and greedy people are the easiest people to manipulate
