Summary

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, after he suggested her "Know Your Rights with ICE" webinar could be illegal.

The event informed immigrants about their rights during ICE raids. Homan claimed the webinar might impede immigration enforcement and said he was working with the DOJ to determine legal action.

AOC dismissed his remarks, stating, "Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start."

She continues to oppose Trump’s immigration policies, including efforts to revoke birthright citizenship.

That's where Tom Homan comes in

The guy who brought the war crime of parental separation from children to US policy. Why do you think that ruining children's lives, who would otherwise be raised in families, cared for and loved, literal babies torn from their mother's breast, is a good thing? And for what? Money? This policy is the most expensive way of doing anything, and removing immigration negatively impacts the country both as a collective and as per capita, so it's purely just ideological cruelty on an arbitrary group of people.

Secondly, the guy is a proven outright liar, who frequently quotes false and made up statistics, loves to joke about women getting raped, and regularly collaborates with listed hate groups.

Why not appoint a competent, truthful person who truly cares about helping America than someone actively trying to hurt both America and Americans?

Illegal aliens aren't Americans, and should have sought legal ports of entry.

Family separations started under President Obama as well.it is not a war crime, as we're not at war, however it is framed that way. It's more of a crime to traffick kids to another country, is it not? To endanger their lives trekking across a desert, wading through a river and climbing an 18 ft wall when all they had to do was walk to a point of entry?

You care more about these illegal aliens than the starving homeless American kids and then wonder why there's divisiveness in our country.

In case you're deliberately missing the point, they've been going after illegal aliens with a criminal history, and you can't blame Trump when they make bad decisions.

Jokes about women getting raped? So Laken Riley was a joke to you? Did you purposely miss the point just because you hate Trump so much? Is it ok for people to break our laws just out of your disdain for Trump?

illegal aliens aren't Americans

not my point. I meant hurt Americans by increasing food and cost of living expenses, reduction in farming workforce, loss of tax revenue meaning increased taxes on the poorest

edit: not to mention the social cost of witnessing raids, which are generally pretty unpopular when witnessed in person or to someone you know

"started under Obama"

by the very self same person you just lauded as doing good thing

"it's not a war crime because we're not at war"

we are at war. America has been at war 228 out of 245 years (in before "its only congress that can declare war and they haven't done that since ww2!" so the war in Iraq was not a war etc)

But also, the technical definition of war does not mean destroying families is suddenly a good thing lol

it's more of a crime to traffick kids

That's not what human trafficking is, and it's disingenuous to suggest it is. And the solution to human trafficking is not to further traffick the victims, which is the solution here.

trekking across a desert... climbing a wall

this is a fantasy and for the most part is statistically insignificant to illegal immigration. Most people drive or fly into America, and do so legally. The illegal part occurs when their paperwork expires and, as you can imagine, it is then incredibly difficult to a) reup or b) remove persons for both sides. It's hard for the person in question because of all the barriers to entry, but also they moved to the US legitimately, and now the barriers exist only to make continued life more difficult, further compounding the situation; and, it's hard for the government because there simply isn't the resources to track expiry dates let alone action deportation on the back of them.

you care more about x than y

How do you know what I care about? This conversation does not have the scope to list and stack rank an exhaustive list of all the things I care about, but you are welcome to go first.

Secondly, many of the starving homeless Americans are children of 1stG immigrants, whose lives are made worse by these policies.

Laken Riley is a joke to you?

A) when did I say that?

b) Google the numbers on who commits more violent crime - spoiler not only do immigrants commit less crime, and less severe types, but they also have an effect of reducing crime amongst Americans in their community
