I was able to wean myself off reddit by setting increasingly longer breaks. First it was a day, then a work week, then a fortnight, etc.. every time I'd log back on I'd find something that just repulsed me more and more, it's like the inverse to exposure therapy.
Chances are you will not miss
one bit.
The next thing I found ciritical to make the Reddit purge stick was thing having something ready to replace it, as others have pointed out. For work hours it's hexbear for me. I'm busy enough at work that it's not doom scrolling, more just a quick look down once an hour or so or during a potty/coffee break.
Outside of work hours it's mahjong or reading (but tbh I could improve on the reading...). Switching to long form content is also rewarding, like rather than watching 1.5 hours of shorts, instead sitting down and watching a movie. It's still giving your brain the break it desires but you walk away with a cohesive experience.
Replacing reddit with hexbear is like replacing smoking with vaping.
I think hexbear is categorically better than Reddit, community aside, there's less content here so it is actually possible to get 'caught up' for want of a better word so less compulsion to infiniscroll
