I wouldn't be surprised if that was a big reason.
That said, the whole porn trope of a clearly-not-teenager dressing up as a "teenager" with pigtails and everything is just....weird. It's not a turn on for me in the slightest. Even when I was a teenager and came across that, my first thought was "that's not how girls my age operate".
Teenagers have not worn pigtails since like the 60s
Yeah, exactly.
Maybe some do, but it's not a common thing.
People still wear pigtails around where I am.
