it's a shame that the poor also say fuck the poor
Metaphorically, it's like telling people who slather hot sauce on everything yet always complain about stomach issues but never connect the dots.
Yes, the hot sauce hurts them, even the act of eating it is objectively painful and they know it, but it also provides them with a sense of satisfaction which they deeply desire (lacking it, for the impoverished right, in their lives due to their restrictive culture) that makes them willing to overlook the pain. Some time later, the indigestion, heartburn, and/or acid reflux start up then they get all "ugh, why my tummy always upset?" cause they cannot put two-and-two together from being inundated with so much misinformation and end up believing the logical assumption is because they put chemicals in the water to make the frogs gay or some bullshit.
I'm going to be so sad if my spicy pad Thai ever starts hurting me. My weekly lunches at my local Thai place are some of the happiest moments in my life at the moment.
And I know that sounds sad, but their food really is just that good.
Nothing sad about enjoying food, at all.
