I wonder if this is common
I have seen other people on the Internet describe similar experiences.
Of course that is part of why there are young looking pornstars.
i once saw an nsfw subreddit specifically for porn of people (mostly girls) who look very young (literally looked like children)
i don't know if their goal was appealing to children or people who are attracted to children but it was incredibly weird, so i got out of there and never looked in there again

To be fair, and not to defend u/spez, but back in the day, if you were top mod of a sub, you could just add anyone else as a mod. So, we'll never know the full story, but there is that
I'm a bit sceptical whether or not this is the main reason why the extremely-underage-looking actors are accepted into the porn industry.
I wouldn't be surprised if that was a big reason.
That said, the whole porn trope of a clearly-not-teenager dressing up as a "teenager" with pigtails and everything is just....weird. It's not a turn on for me in the slightest. Even when I was a teenager and came across that, my first thought was "that's not how girls my age operate".

I have no idea how large a part, but there are plenty of porn videos where the male actor plays a teenager having sex with his ... pick any: classmate, stepsister, teacher, stepmom. You don't think these are produced in part so that underage boys can identify with it?
I absolutely wouldn't be surprised if the intention was clearly that from the start, but kept as an open secret.
