I'm guessing no Rosanne was a big part of it.

Might be unpopular, but she wasn't bad for the show in any direct way. It's an ensemble show, and she was very funny in it alongside the rest of the cast

Obviously what she said outside the show was unacceptable and she had to be fired. And she's said a lot more stupid things since.

But credit where credit is due, she handled being fired in the best way, pushing to ensure the show and remaining cast could keep going. I at least respect her actions, even if I can't respect her for what she says publicly about political issues

Ha, no. She had zero impact on the new show.

I am aware that Lemmy hates nuance, but that doesn't change the facts.

Roseanne Barr worked with Tom Werner to create an agreement that would allow them to create the spinoff and save 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew, without Barr's financial participation.

Feel free to live in a fantasy world, but things aren't as black and white as you want to believe

Not fantasy. I'm very connected to it. She didn't do shit.

Keep tryin' chump.

Yeah, it's disappointing to see what she became. Roseanne was a pretty progressive show for it's time and addressed a lot of issues most sitcoms of the era steered clear of. Despite their rough edges the Conner family were a fairly positive but accurate representation of struggling working class American families too. Which was not something shown on TV very often.

Roseanne Barr has become... The opposite of who she was during my childhood and it's a shame. But I'm glad to see The Conners has continued to explore the kind of stories the original was celebrated for.
