Unfortunately I'm not talking about a decade ago. This partner, at best, has adopted some kind of anarchism that still allows them to punch left
Some people have a lot of power and material comfort that they're unwilling to give up, and thus stay as radlibs, doing a lot of work for empire. It took me decades of life experience before I was able to smell it on people. Thankfully I can spot it day one on meeting a new person, so when they pivot hard right I'm not shocked at all.
IMO, the secret is seeing what their opinions are on the truly oppressed: homeless, trans ppl, disabled, Palestinians, prisoners, POC, etc. If they talk a good game on 1-2 issues, especially one that effects then personally, yet haven't showed up for most anything (outside of social media), that's your tell.
I've had friends and acquaintances go this way, but never partners. I'm sorry for you.
