The more that police specialize in (and glorify) violent combat scenarios, the less useful and valuable they are to the public. We need trained responders.

Now let's see silence on the bank wire.

The presidency isn't the right place to dig your heels in to force a massive cultural shift. Those candidates are arising from the most average aggregate American opinions, it's how they got there.

From the top down, a nudge is all we're going to get. Even if you win all your policy positions, that will probably still be true.

If we're successful at winning hearts and minds, better candidates will arise from us, that's what representation is.

Local politics is so ripe for disruption when it comes to expertise and integrity, hell even the US house is like a kindergarten playground with bottom of the barrel officials.

Meanwhile we need to play some defense, especially in the court appointments. We need to focus on our communities, but at the same time not giving away an inch more than we're forced to.

Even when you think you're losing, there is still always one best possible thing that you can do. Maybe rolling over is it, if you believe D and R are the exact same thing, but I happen to think there's a lot more at stake here in the long game.

I hear you. I feel that. But just remember to play the hand you actually have as best you can. Sometimes the situation sucks but it's still up to us to make decisions.

I support your diversity of tactics, I just don't think the American people are there with you yet... So keep on pushing us.

(phew) I'm glad I don't have to go vote in November then. Thanks everyone else.

What kind of revolution? The kind that involves more soldiers and cops raping citizens here? Because as far as I know that's the only type there is.

The way I understood it is that the Biden campaign was basically renamed and Harris is the candidate, so the war chest is deeper than since she announced.

I am just so relieved that most people seem capable of understanding nuance.

By all means figure out if you can somehow give us a better candidate. But when it's time for you to actually do something real, remember to play the hand you have.

Hm I deleted my twitter account last year. Maybe I'll make a new one just to follow her

I am frustrated that we didn't get to pick our candidate in the primaries, I don't know if Harris is my style. She might be.

But God damn I am looking forward to her going head to head with Trump. She is sharp as hell on her feet.

Trump's going to be mad that x is becoming a direct competitor to truth social

I am curious about podcasts with high quality content but that are pretty centered around specific topics like hobbies or particular professions.

For example, there are a handful of ham radio podcasts such as Linux In The Ham Shack.

Tell me about some podcasts that keep you up in your interests or career that wouldn't make sense to share with most people you know.

I am currently redesigning my kitchen in a 1930's Midwestern USA house. The kitchen has a decent floor area but the floor plan is oddly restrictive.

My space next to the sink is such that I can either have a standard 24" dishwasher next to the sink and a slightly weird cabinet adjacent to it, or I could have an 18 inch dishwasher at 45 degrees flanked by two small but reasonably sized cabinet doors (or drawers), although the 45 degree plan would dictate a somewhat shallow custom counter depth on the flanks (like 18-20 inches).

I think I would be more proud of the accomplishment of building the angled design, and I think the ergonomics would be optimal.

But I'm not sure about the smaller dishwasher. I have never used a smaller one. It seems like it would be enough for my small family and still plenty helpful for gatherings.

And if you somehow disagree with flushing it down if it is brown, I suppose I would like to hear about that as well.

How often do you clean them, and how? Any cautionary tales?
