OK then, never mind, you are a big fucking baby AND a cunt. Fuck you and your fucking dumb shit backpack. You are a fucking moron for cooking up a useless post about something so goddamn stupid. I hope you feel like the dumbfuck you are every time you see your idiotic backpack and are reminded that you look like retard when you wear it.

There, NOW you have a reason to behave like the twat you are. Happy? No? GOOD.

Don't forget, when people have time and a little extra energy they will do things like vote, volunteer, develop themselves, improve their health, maybe run for office.

These are all counter to the strategy to run everyone ragged, keep them on the treadmill producing and consuming until they drop. People who are exhausted won't fight back.

This doesn't work.

If it were only about novelty, then why aren't there more bellybutton fetishes?

Being a fetish-having person, I can tell you there there is more than just an attraction to the object of your desire. It is a primal, deep, uncontrollable NEED to see or touch the object.

I am not a foot fetishist, so I do not presume to know the intimate details of what they like, but I can promise you, it has nothing to do with novelty. Fetishes have so many variants also; there are foot fetishes, sock fetishes, feet squishing stuff, toenail paint things, some want a footjob, some want to lick them or suck on toes, some people like big feet, small feet, the list goes on and on.

Maybe read just a tiny bit? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_fetishism#Cause

Yeah, such pieces are easy clicks.

How about this: should we go back to handwriting everything so we use our brains more, since the article states that it takes more brainpower to write than it does to type? Will this actually make us better or just make us have to engage in cognitive toil and fatigue ourselves performing menial tasks?

How is a society ever to improve if we do not leave behind the ways of the past? Humans cannot achieve certain things without the use of technology. LLMs are yet another tool. When abused any tool can become a weapon or a means to hurt ones self.

The goal is to reduce the amount of time spent on tasks that are not useful. Imagine if the human race never had to do dishes ever again. Imagine how that would create so much opportunity to focus on more important things. The important part is to actually focus on more important things.

At least in the US, society has transformed into a consumption-oriented model. We buy crap constantly, shop endlessly, watch shows, movies and listen to music and podcasts without end. How much of your day is spent creating something? Writing something? Building something? How much time do you spend seeking gratification?

We have been told that consumption is good and it works because consumption is indulgence whereas production is work. Until this paradigm changes, people will use ai in ways that are counterproductive rather than for their own self improvement or the improvement of society at large.

I got a tramontina set at Costco. Not sure where you are, but they usually have several sets to choose from.

Three years later very happy, would totally recommend. Good price, holding up very well.

May as well get used to the cold weather by moving north since we will have to run to Canada next.

I have built and maintained all manner of home servers using inexpensive used hardware. Any PC or old laptop can do this stuff. Unless you're doing something crazy on them, I've not encountered a lot of situations that I could not sort out. Usually throwing some more memory and storage into them solves most issues.

I ran a used desktop machine with an i3 processor (retired school system) for YEARS as my NAS with zero issues beyond adding a little cooling. Did the same with a firewall, worked for ages with no issues.

Getting a mini pc is nice if you are putting it in your living room, but there are still many choices for small form factor devices. Not quite as small, but still pretty small. Lots of them were used as POS terminals at stores. Wipe 'em, reload and start fresh.

You should probably switch from omeprazole to famotidine. I used to be on omeprazole until my doc noted that there are indications of it be a carcinogen when used long term. Switching was a non-issue for me.

Of course, I'm just some rando on the internet. You may want to seek some reliable info on the topic. Look for PPI vs H2 receptor antagonist.

I'm doing this one now mostly. Current company was just bought by a bigger company. All major projects have been stopped while we wait for the new bosses to show up and tell everyone what to do (then fire 2/3 of us).

I'm busy looking for my next job now. I have learned that any time there is any major acquisition or merger, get looking THE DAY it is announced. Do not wait, do not hope it will get better.

The management will let the news settle in, then after about a week or two, they'll send some useless motivational email about how we should value our work, take pride in it, whatever. They're just trying to keep everyone busy so that they won't leave because the bosses will get a bonus if they can keep the place stable long enough to hand it over to new management. They let everyone believe that everything will be fine, no need to panic.

The rule is, when you start to see the faces of the new company, it's fucking over. You have weeks/days left before you're gone. They've already gone through the staff, they know the names, who's worth keeping (very few), what they do, how much it will cost in lost productivity when they fire everyone off. They have consultants at the ready to come in and clean up the mess left behind after they sweep everyone out. Any hope that you're a good person or that you know something that nobody else does and that's useful is just wishful thinking. You represent an expense and they want those to go away. They will spend as little money on you as possible to make you go away. They will typically offer no severance or as little as possible (in the US). They will do what they can to fend off a potential lawsuit so you won't have any grounds to sue once you're cut. They'll keep the people in other countries that actually have labor protection laws and drop all the US workers as fast as possible.

Never sit around hoping things will work out, they will not. Just dust off your resume and get at it.
