They can stay where they are

Terrible attempt at a straw man at the end there, 2/10.

She murdered a baby. She needs rehabilitation, help, sure, but it doesn't get much worse than baby killing, imo.

You should do what your users want. Growth in users for the sake of "line goes up" is a faulty attitude. Dozens of users sounds like a community of good faith users, very nice. You do you!

Yes, unfortunately Lemmy has gone like Voat - only the "extreme" (generalising) have stuck around. Hopefully something new will arise to displace Reddit and capture its mainstream users.

You don't need a lot of marketing to prefer a basic but decent car for a third (or less) of the price of the average American car (read: truck). American cars are bloating like crazy, and even if the tracking is insane on a chinese car, it's no better on a domestic car. The American (and European) auto industry needs to get its act together and stop blaming consumers for not happily donating them stupid amounts of money and data

The IDF was. Now do Hamas. The answer is that they were, too.

Moron. Hamas commit war crimes as a matter of course. How can you be so intellectually dishonest in your arguments?!

I wondered who it was, but then I saw I have FS blocked and just see the word "filtered" instead of amy comment. Think I made the right choice at some point then.

Surely just pirate it so you can read it on your timetable, and take the book from the library when it's your turn to give that author the lending stats?

an inalienable concept as free speech

Free speech is not an "inalienable" concept. To be honest, the adjective "inalienable" doesn't well describe a "concept", more "right" or a "privilege". Nobody can take away a concept from you, only the exercise or realisation of that concept.

That said, the Lemmy dev's code of conduct is not a binding document, and given their political views, I wouldn't even bother opening it if I was adminning my own instance. And nobody owes you your freedom of speech - if an instance decides to enforce the rule "no talking about politics on Wednesdays", nobody has any right to anything else. Preference, sure, but right? No.
