The main problem is iOS sorry. Because most of privacy apps are only available on android...

I recommended to you Windscribe and ProtonVPN as free, Mullvad and iVPN as paid option

I agree partly with your point of view but a iPhone is still a phone that you cannot really tweak and flash and new rom for example

No no no, mass surveillance or global surveillance means a surveillance at the world scale meaning that all the people from everywhere would be watched. They just want to gain datas about everyone, to one day maybe use it. Cover leaks, cover several things... For sure today you will not be under the control of a foreign gov but tomorrow if they need to they could track you to achieve their goals.

With the case of Discord, you probably should know that in China the big companies are really related to the Chinese gov. Take the case of Tencent and search online for share owned by the gov. That's all. Datas trough Discord are not safe at all.

You should know that in this world most of the governments want to extand their "power" (in fact it's the good world), by knowing all the stuffs that are happening in the world they gain some superior knowledge. Why do states are willing to do mass surveillance, to use security cameras, etc... It's not to have more "citizens" but to gain more power

They want people datas as much as US wants them to do mass surveillance. Surveillance is power and all govs wants power

Discord is one of the worst company in term of privacy, they sell all of your datas, messages... First to make profit and then send it to the Chinese government. Thx to offer to me 10MB 😁

My go-to for pretty much all purposes would be to use SimpleX, it's a really good secure and private app that is in early development. Basically it use the Signal protocol, but in an app without telemetry, blobs, etc.. Or if you want to use Signal, download Molly

My other recommandation would be Matrix for large public groups or business talk.

Do you people sniff into your stuffs? No. So why do you allow companies to make profit on?

And we need the anonymous part too.

Privacy means hiding our legitimate stuffs to others than could spy on. In this way, privacy is a big family that needs anonymity and security to work well

EDIT : Anonymity and security are not different than privacy, they are a way to achieve it

Don't why you want to use Telegram but in any cases this is not a good idea, even with Forks. It maybe remove blobs but don't change the Telegram infrastructure

Until now it was really annoying to collect audio and then use it. The app needs to constantly record, send out the datas and then lastly process it to be useful. Today the cost versus benefits are really not to their advantage.

But tomorrow this might change, if they find a way of using the mic to serve ads be sure that they will. The only question today is how? The only option at this time is for me to process the stuff offline. As they do today with "ok google". Within the next months-years we are going to see more and more phones and it stuff using dedicated or specialized AI chip, they will be great with really low consumption to run 24/24. They could analyse offline the speech, make a resume and lastly when the connectivity is sufficient and enough datas are collwcted, the phone sends out all the infos to the companies servers.

I've seen some comments about the fact that others companies that Google cannot really use the mic in this way, this is right...today. But in the future make sure that when they will have developed correctly this concept, Google (and Apple) would surely be okay with this approach (maybe in exchange with some bucks).

Today phones are surely not listening to us, but they know so much things that we are actually thinking that they are. But this way is maybe not enough profitable for them, so they want to invade even more our privacy to gain more of this fucking thing called "money".

What are the best places to dl FLAC music?

Hello, I'm beginner to QubeOS and I don't know really how to use it properly. I'm not really an absolute beginner in Linux (running it since 2 years), but I've never tried it and these I wanna try so installed it 2 days ago. At first it's very good, not laggy, etc.. It's what I want! But today I want to really set this thing up for every day use, but it's not really convenient to use for some of my use cases. So I need your help for global tips to use the system and for my use cases :

  • Never really liked use the default Firefox ESR + hardening, used the flatpak app of Mullvad, basically I want to know the way of installing apps

  • Want to set up "hacking" lab, mainly Kali or Parrot and other to use with the networking to "hack" them, basically I want to run multiples VMs

Thank you guys 😁

EU approval for chat control (www.patrick-breyer.de)
submitted 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

We need to do something against this. The EU plans to apply a law for a chat control in the territory. The approval say that all the chats and the emails would be send to the government to do AI scanning to in fact “find the children abuses”, even when using apps with end-to-end encryption (the EU will ask the services to open their secrets keys… we know that Microsoft, Google and Facebook have already agreed to this. On the other hand Signal for example had said that they would leave the EU if this law will be applied). We need to counter this, because this restrict the privacy and the security of the citizens. Even if you’re not living in the EU, you should take a look because that could encourage others to do the same! Please take a look of the situation and make you your own idea of the case. Find out here the votes results for now, by countries and more... mepwatch.eu

Some others organizations criticized the approval, a open letter/petition was posted here : globalencryption.org

PS : I know that this was posted on the community a bit before (https://lemmy.world/post/16093632) but I think this is really important and the people should know it. That's a really regrettable decision for the population. thx
