First off, let me say that I see a close to zero chance that society will collapse in a matter of months or that there will be mobs out to kill disabled people.

America has reached a turning point and is certainly starting to spiral, but these kinds of radical changes you're talking about take a long time to happen. People revolt violently when they can no longer afford bread, and the US is nowhere close to that.

Quality of life is declining, job opportunities are diminishing, but America is so far away from bread lines that it's just not going to happen in the short term. Remember the elites DON'T WANT social collapse. That's very bad for business! They will gamble with our future and with the prosperity of the country for a little more over and over, but they want to keep the system up and held together with duct tape as long as possible or their profits fall too.

So yes, there is real turmoil, but nothing is coming to an end tomorrow, next month, or next year. Keep educating yourself, but stay positive and do what you can to enact change.

I agree that the source has bias, but that's half the problem. Where is coverage from everyone else? If Isreal is not going to open up its detention centers to review or audit, then we have very little to go on and claims like this we have to accept as possibly true.

It's likely a bit of both. Trump has no issue not paying his debts and several entities that have done business with him have gone under because of that.

Russia has to have something on him for him to consider not blowing them off. It's likely it could be as simple as him considering them a formidable enemy. They could cause problems for him and his family, potentially the foreign assets of his company, etc. They're not a small bank or drywall company to be messed with.

As much as I loath hearing about the man for another four years, reading Drumpf again brought a smile to my face.

That's crazy, I don't know how you do it. When my SO and I got back together after I had gone vegan she tried it for me and has stuck with it ever since. I can't imagine having to fight against my SO or watch them eat meat every day.

Sorry, I know you're not commenting for relationship advice. I'm sure there is a world where two people could have different beliefs on this and still coexist, but yours sounds... hostile. I'd really ask yourself if they're worth it.

I think liberals understand this, at some level, but they know they are powerless to do anything about it within the system they've built for themselves. They can't outright say this, or they would never be re-elected.

They have completely embraced neoliberal economic policies, and thus depend on corporate money and support. The only thing they can do is toss people a bone here and there, and implement slow policies that might help over time, but won't rock the boat now. Business do not like sudden changes, they want predictable stability as that's what their investments and forcasting is built on.

Conservatives are also in the pocket of corporations, but they simply have no problem lying to their voters. They will point the finger, blame the other, make outlandish claims, and purposefully mislead the public while having no intention of helping them. They just want to solidify their power and line their pockets. People fall for these lies because they're tired of the status quoe and any kind of major change sounds like a benifit. They're shooting themselves in the foot, but they don't know it yet.

Is it crazy that he'd be better if he was a five-time ultimate smackdown champion and porn superstar? Camacho actually tried to put the smartest guy on the problem.

The DNC has a lot of problems and blame to absorb, but at some point we have to look at the electorate. You don't have to read the Sunday newspaper or be politically active to know who is running for president. She had two months to step outside and listen/read almost anything.

She is an ignorant, zero information voter, who is likely just regurgitating what she heard her father or boyfriend say months ago. This is the problem. America is now dominated by zombies with no critical thinking skills who crave being brainwashed by their mobile phones.

I hate to be so negative, but I simply don't see a way out of it. The masses are being controlled more effectively than ever before and I don't see what systemic change could magically appear to change our trajectory.

As an early season Simpsons lover, I enjoy D'ohrdle.

I'd they'd bring back the headphone jack and sell them in North America then they might have something.

It would win the "will it fit nicely on a keychain" by a landsline.

However I doubt it would suit OP's needs as the contacts are exposed so durability may be suspect, and seeing as it is generic I doubt the performance is up to his standards.

With Chromecasts being discontinued, increase in ads, telemetry, etc I'm wondering if anyone else is going back to old school HTPCs or if they have some other solution to do this in house.

I think the options here are likely:

  1. Rooted streamer (ie Chromecast, firestick)
  2. Android Box
  3. Mini PC

I'm actually most interested in experimenting with #3, a mini PC running KDE Plasma Bigscreen. Most of my self hosted apps can be run in browser windows, and a full desktop (while harder to navigate) is better than the browsers you can get on Android.

What is everyone esle, especially the privacy / de-googled self hosters doing for their media front end?

Looking at the charging preferences of the Steam Deck, which from my research wants 45W at 15v/3A, it looks like the larger model should work just fine. And with it being $15 USD / $18 CAD this could be an incredible bargain.

It's so new though I can't find any info on it being used with a Steam Deck. I'll definitely be grabbing one to try, as it would be perfect for my USB hub that sits by the TV.
