This has been brought up over and over before the election. Immigrants also pay Billions into social services they can't use every year, and deporting them will impact them as well.

There are Republicans already encouraging the Senate to meet the 10-day recess necessary to allow Trump to circumvent the Senate with the Recess Appointments Clause. Which is Republicans using a rule in bad faith that was supposed to protect the process from the Senate using an excessive recess to prevent/delay a President from getting their picks vetted.

He already said as much before the election and people still voted him in. He also stated he's cool with leveling Gaza, and called Netanyahu and told him no deal until after the election, that way he can give Israel carte blanche and claim the credit for "ending the war" (ignoring the complete genocide of the Palestinians).

Just like Trump limited what the FBI could look at for Kavanaugh, and nobody did anything about that either. He also over-ruled intelligence telling him Flynn was a foreign agent and cleared Kushner also. And the list goes on, but it didn't matter the first time around, and the assholes that voted him back in are cool with it.

Trump is just putting a person between him and Putin this time around, Russia knew everything the first admin also. He hid meeting notes and visitor logs and nobody did shit, then the assholes voted him back in to finish selling us off because somehow that means "America First".

Twitter was already really bad, Musk just brought back the Nazis and fired all the people that were the guardrails.

It depends on who is interpreting the DMCA really.

It criminalizes production and dissemination of technology, devices, or services intended to circumvent measures that control access to copyrighted works (commonly known as digital rights management or DRM). It also criminalizes the act of circumventing an access control, whether or not there is actual infringement of copyright itself.

These parties were also said to be full of drugs (in addition to alcohol), which one could argue blurs any consent, especially when your looking at a 35/yr old man wanting to pay a 17/yr girl for sex. He was also a congressman by then, which also makes this a very lopsided power dynamic when arguing consent with a possibly intoxicated underage girl.

The woman's allegation regarding Gaetz became part of the investigation following claims by Greenberg, a former friend of Gaetz who is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence after reaching a deal with investigators in May 2021 in which he pleaded guilty to multiple federal crimes, including sex trafficking of the woman when she was a minor and introducing her to other "adult men" who also had sex with her when she was underage.

This part also make one more inclined to believe this has something to it, and probably more women that aren't coming forward because of all the death threats and toxicity projected at victims.

AND HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE OUR NEW AG!!

I do not see Twitter, Threads, or BlueSky as any part of the Fediverse since they are all for profit corporations. Fediverse is about being free of the corporate overlords.

Also deporting millions of farm workers isn't going to help prices stabilize when farmers have vegetables rotting on the vine because they can't afford US citizens and how much they expect to be paid to be a farm-hand and on top of that US citizens tend to be fat and fucking lazy in comparison to the immigrant laborers.

We can just use High School kids again. /s

If the US dollar is still somehow the world's reserve currency after all this fucking idiocy, I'll genuinely be shocked.

If Trump's admin does crash the currency look for him to try and shift the US to his crypto grift coin which is I'm sure 100% legit and will not benefit from new regulation written around it being a black box of money laundering/bribe/slush fund.

Giving the country over to fascists isn't the way. It's one thing if you need to flee for your safety, but handing the country to these assholes is what they want. And the way elections have been going no place is really a paradise right now, so we need to keep the pressure on these assholes, call them out on everything, and hope we get another election in 4 years.

I'm sure we can count on the social platforms being all over this with the moderating. /s

I wonder how long we have to wait for some super toxic assbackwards "protect conservative free speech" bill to be pushed through to try and keep any future (the current ones outside of the fediverse I think are already not moderating this kind of thing) from being able to ban shitheads like Fuentes.
