My then-girlfriend (now-wife) and I watched GoT from beginning to end as each episode came out, and even though that show ended up being a disappointment, there are still some very fond memories of us overly eager to plop down together and tune in. HotD brings us right back to those days. While we both think it’s a great show so far, we’re on guard and I guess we’re willing to get burned again for the nostalgia.

I drove Linux Mint for a bit when I was trying to quit Windows. The only thing that made me go back was that, while I could install Steam, the game I was playing at the time (Destiny 2) wasn’t compatible with Linux — as in, I couldn’t even launch it. So I’d switch back and forth for a bit; Windows for gaming, Linux for everything else. But at the end of the day, I don’t want to have that extra layer of complexity in my life. I ended up just sticking with Windows. I will probably give Linux Mint or another distro a shot in the future, but for now I’m only on Windows.

Creatures of the world experience the next extinction-level event after two enormous arm-shaped protrusions in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean come crashing down, causing tsunamis of unimaginable size and ferocity. They take solace in knowing that their home planet is a “bro.”

I wish people would stop sharing this meme. Shortly after it came out and became viral, that guy got in a HUGE amount of trouble with the Bolivian authorities. They raided his house, sent him to prison, they literally kidnapped his wife and kids, and I’m just fucking with you guys I have no idea who this is.

I can see the devices you use mattering. Where were you watching the videos? Do you have the Amazon app installed on the same device, or on a device with a microphone? My tin-foil hat theory is that the Amazon app is always listening from your phone, based on similar things happening to my wife.

Reminds me of the time when my uncle asked me to go get the dolly from his garage. I, being a kid and having no context for why he’d need a dolly, spent a few minutes in his garage but eventually returned with a Barbie doll still in its box. Fortunately, my uncle just chuckled, clasped my shoulder, and went to the garage to get his dolly so he could move his laundry machine. I often remember that day as a lesson in humility.

Aaaaaaand that’s why we all got the mandatory class action related agreement notifications. Scum.

If a kid’s got their parent’s credit card, I doubt they will bother with requesting a refund. They’ll just smash other ‘buy’ buttons until the game they want is downloaded. I’m sure some adults are like this, too…

My MSI MAG Z790 motherboard supports rear channel speakers.

If I were to mount a pair of speakers behind me, that would require approximately 15 feet (4.5 meters) of speaker wire from my PC to the speakers. Do I have to worry about the AUX port’s power output if I were to use 18 or 16 gauge speaker wire?

I bought a 2020 Honda Accord, and I have absolutely zero (meaningful) complaints.

Things I like about it so much that they are requirements for future car purchases:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Brake-holding
  • Tactile inputs for media, cruise control, or climate control (almost wasn’t going to mention this, but new cars are shifting away from this, which I can’t stand)
  • A respectably-snappy infotainment system that supports CarPlay

Little things:

  • Adaptive cruise control is always ready to be set, so I can just head out and immediately start using it (I’m one of those people who likes to use cruise control at every possible opportunity)
  • Comfortably seats 4, if I ever need it to
  • It just looks nice, inside and out, in my opinion
