At least your appeal was declined, when I appealed my "Abuse of Report Button", they never even responded.

Wow I only got banned on one account.

Make sure you delete the banned accounts or Reddit will just keep spamming you with emails.

I was confused because I thought you meant Magic The Gathering's head.

Yeah I appealed countless times for my offense. I "abused the report button", apparently when you're in an argument and the other party has resorted to personal attacks, that's not the time to push the report button.

Who gives a PERMA BAN for something like that?

I do miss reddit, mainly because the Sonic, DBD, and other niche interest boards aren't active on Lemmy

The more I see other people who were banned from Reddit for no reason, the better I feel about my own banning.

Yeah apparently reporting people for transphobia is "Abusing the Report Button"

I'm banned from Reddit for "abusing the report button"

Apparently when you're in an argument and the other person is using personal attacks, that's NOT the time to use the report button. Just deleted the account, it was banned anyway.

I just deleted my Reddit account, it's no good to me since they banned my account for "Abusing the report button" and wouldn't unban it no matter how many appeals I sent in. Part of me thought, maybe they'd unban it some day, but... naw... better to just walk away

I hope it goes the way of YTMND and becomes a distant memory. Although with YTMND my memories are at least pleasant.

I just hope someday the "Niche Interest" sublemmies become more active

Is that NOT actually an issue where you're from?

Basically.. my reaction to hearing the good word of Atheism was to cling to New Age as hard as possible and believe the Skeptics were just miserable and calling anything inconvenient to their beliefs "Psuedoscience"

That lasted... a while... thankfully I'm not on the Spirit Science train anymlre

Now I'm a Buddhist and am learning to be cool with the temporary nature of existence and am looking forward to rebirth in the Pure Land.

The Problem with New Atheism is that humans need hope and hope isn't something Dawkins offers.

Absolute clown show.

Ease of use is a forgotten artform it seems

So uhh

I don't exactly know where to begin. So I'll start by saying I have nothing but love and respect for FNAF and the series creator Scott Cawthon.

Nothing I say here is intended as an attack on the franchise or the people involved. If anything the opposite and I look forward to upcoming FNAF projects like the DBD Collab and the Secret of the Mimic game.

Our story takes place in the summer of 2016. FNAF World had recently been announced and Scott was very openly talking to his fanbase on the forums for FNAF 4. Most of it about FNAF World, the then upcoming RPG.

Now one interesting side tangent is that the first FNAF game and Undertale came out and met critical and financial success at the same time.

This is relevant because early on there were rumors discussed by fans of both that FNAF World was going to have a shout out to Undertale. This was discussed to DEATH on the FNAF 4 forums. So much so that Scott vehemently denied not only the rumors but any connection the two would have.

Me being literally autistic did not take this to mean "Hey stop talking about Undertale." But instead "Go off on a tangent about similarities between the two. This would be a good idea."

So I did and received a permanent ban from the FNAF 4 Steam Forums. Everytime I go there, I see a big red banner that reads "Since you won't drop it. I don't have a choice."

The sad thing is, I did drop it and would twice more briefly have the chance to speak with Scott Cawthon on the boards for FNAF World (Where I made a post of encouragement he responded positively) to in which I made clear my refusal to refund the game. And FNAF Sister Location (Where he had a light response to me sarcastically asking where the sister was located. Something along the lines of "You'll find out when you play the game." It was a long time ago

Both times we got on fine and he seemed to appreciate my support for his works, yet only after that did I ever think to ask about an unban for FNAF 4.

It's not that FNAF 4 is such a happening board or anything. It's even my least favorite fnaf game (Sorry Scott the audio cues still do not work worth a darn) but I've always seen that ban, as of my writing this the only steam forum ban I have on record to my knowledge, at least the only that wasn't eventually overturned... as a dark mark on my record, a stain from when I was a younger person in her early 20s who let her hype and excitement run ahead of her logic

Fast forward to today. 9 years later. I've asked a friend who is friends with the fnaf mod team about removing the ban only for them to say they would but FNAF 4 was not a board they had jurisdiction over. at least that's how I understood it. I wasn't actually involved in that conversation...

She suggested I talk to Scott about it and I tried to but sadly that isn't as easy to do as it was in 2016. Scott is big time now and most of his emails are clogged with branding deals, business conversations, and fan mail... I've sent multiple emails about the situation and received nothing back in reply.

So this is where I'm left. Does anybody have an ideas? Think I can talk to valve about it? Should I try to make a public post on a fnaf board explaining the situation?

It's been 9 years, countless more FNAF games, and three US presidents later but the ban and the embarrassment it represents still lingers.

And I would appreciate any advice anyone has concerning the situation. Thank you.

Have you not seen tumblr? You'll just get Elon Musk with a vagina and a hate-on for anyone capable of having a hard-on.... Even if they aren't men.

So an even more mask-off JK Rowling

For the love of God Europe, we need a world power that actually respects human rights, not outright rejects them like Russia, pretends to embrace like America, or outright rejects them while tankies pretend that China embraces them.

There is a tendency for real doctors with backing from Academia or whoever's in charge of deciding how you science to just plain getting it wrong and not realizing it for a long time.

Homeopathy is a good example of this, as it appeared to get great results when it was created during the Bubonic Plague and had such staying power to the point that in the 1800's it was considered a legitimate and mainstream field of medical practice.

Now today we know Homeopathy is nonsense... Remembers New Age Healing is still a thing Okay, those of us with sense know homeopathy is garbage. With the only reason it was getting such wonderful results was because the state of medicine for a long period of time in human history was so god awful that not getting any treatment at all was actually the smarter idea. Since Homeopathy is basically just "No medicine at all", that's exactly what was happening with its success.

Incidentally this is also why the Christian Science movement (Which was neither Christian nor Science) had so many people behind it, people were genuinely living longer from it because it required people to stop smoking at a time when no one knew smoking killed you.

Anyhow. With that in mind, I want to know if there's a case where the exact opposite happened.

Where Scientists got together on a subject, said "Wow, only an idiot would believe this. This clearly does not work, can not work, and is totally impossible."

Only for someone to turn around, throw down research proving that there was no pseudo in this proposed pseudoscience with their finest "Ya know I had to do it 'em" face.

The closest I can think of is how people believed that Germ Theory, the idea that tiny invisible creatures were making us all sick, were the ramblings of a mad man. But that was more a refusal to look at evidence, not having evidence that said "No" that was replaced by better evidence that said "Disregard that, the answer is actually Yes"

Can anyone who sciences for a living instead of merely reading science articles as a hobby and understanding basically only a quarter of them at best tell me if something like that has happened?

Thank you, have a nice day.
