Watch Digital Foundry, very very few AAA PS5 games can do 4k AND 60fps (which is what I assume you mean by "high framerates", although 60 isn't really that high it's just mid). Probably none of those are doing ray tracing at the same time. Most PS5 games have upscaling enabled at all times because they're rendering at much lower internal resolutions. PS5 Pro is not even twice as powerful, it's not going to be capable of pushing 4x as many pixels per second. There's a reason why they're still talking about their upscaling algorithms.

"Advanced ray tracing" is not a technical term that exists it's just marketing speak. And obviously they couldn't say path tracing because they won't be doing much of that like a 4070 or 4080 can do.

Here Digital Foundry is comparing the PS5Pro to the RTX 3070 Ti, which is much weaker than the 4070 https://youtu.be/W2wOn8zS8dU?t=3577 (the 4070 has more VRAM than the 3070 Ti that they mention there)

The 4070 is similar to the 3080, which is a pretty decent lead over the 3070 Ti. The 4080 is leagues above them all.

It won't come close to a 4080 so that isn't a sensible comparison. I think it's estimated to be slower than the regular 4070.

IDK why you mention 4k and max settings and high frame rates, PS5 Pro won't do these things. It's not even twice as fast as the regular PS5 which in many games drops below 1080p 60fps medium settings.

Like, not being able to search for specific issues, people, or any other topic already posted even within your own instance is my biggest issue with Lemmy not being a sufficient replacement.

The search page does allow all of this.

You can filter by type (post, user, community, etc), Local/All/Subscribed, searching within a community, choosing a sort option or restricting to past year/month/week.... I think it's much better than Reddit's search.

I don't think this is true, Lemmy is already using rel="canonical" which should be telling Google what the real URL is, like here on programming.dev I see this in the page source

SmashManiac originally ran the site but recently converted it into an open source project. Here's the announcement

It's still early in the transition but I've converted it into a Jekyll build based on yaml data. Unfortunately I've been mostly working alone, we'd love some more contributors! If you know any of: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Jekyll, or Liquid templates then check out the Github and maybe submit some pull requests to help us out

You play a hard-boiled detective who has the skill to psychically visit bar patrons’ memories to gather clues and narrow down suspects.

This is thanks to the kind people at ZOOM Platform, who provided us with the original game sources to work with. Help us test the game by grabbing a daily build. Read through our testing guidelines. Oh, and PS: The viewpoints of different aliens differ. For the Bartender, who has segmented eyes, even the original developers felt it was difficult and left in a cheat key of ScrollLock to switch back to a single viewpoint. Feel free to use it if, at any point, the flashback becomes too much for you :)

 
 

I set the polling interval to never but I still get notifications for some reason. I know I can disable the notifications at the system level, but I would rather the app doesn't do the polling at all currently. Android 14, Pixel 7a.

I found this cool old website for The 7th Guest, The 11th Hour, and T7G3: The Collector. The author is "Bones the Caretaker". The section of the website for The Collector says "Copyright site-design and written content by Paul van der Meer 2003".

Wait a minute, I know that name! Paul van der Meer is the director of The 7th Guest VR and Project Lead at Vertigo Games!

I don't know how old this website is, but it doesn't exist anymore. Luckily the Wayback Machine captured most of it (missing a bunch of images).

Unfortunately the Wayback Machine is a little slow, so navigating around the house in this way is a bit of a pain, and the split screen isn't sized properly for modern screens.

So I made this tweaked version that can be easily self-hosted or downloaded, and it runs much faster.
