I have a question: did WhatsApp fix the vulnerability that was exploited?

Also, how many more are still there?

Anyone know was Pegasus sold as as a service or the software was sold and the user could target whoever and the number is much larger than 1400?

It was. $10M/year. After Apple patched the buffer overflow in the gif lib and introduced blastdoor, they replaced it with Pegasus 2. Apple patched it again. That's why it's sold as a service.

And it's sold as a service to nation-states. People who should be taking measures for this to never happen again are, one can say, culturally sympathetic to those buying it.

It's available to anyone who pays. Not limited to nation states. I doesn't concern me much: $10M is out of reach of anyone I'll ever meet.

Another reminder, as if we needed it, that you should not under any circumstances use whatsapp

Hard disagree: anything is a target for criminals like the NSO Group; blaming Whatsapp specifically for this muddies the discussion. Sure, you should avoid it - for other reasons, do a proper risk assessment please.

I think a period is more appropriate thn a comment there, no?

The comma makes it feel like you should do the risk assesment for other reasons

I’ll leave it as it is now, but you are probably right.
