I’ve take to using yt-dlp to download things I want to watch to a Plex folder, just so I can watch on Apple TV without having to tolerate a barrage of cunty adverts.

It’s kind of a pain, but it does mean that I’m spending far less time idly scrolling through YouTube.

Clipious + plasmatube ftw

Firefox with uBlock Origin add-on and DuckDuckGo fixes most google issues.

fuck, this will really hurt my revanced experience. a

oh wait no it won't lol

Guys, have some sympathy for Google, they really need the money.

For fucks sake google, give us an option JUST for YOUTUBE AD FREE..I would pay!

Not for YouTube music though. I don't want that bundled shit

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

Do you pay for other streaming music services?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The idea is that the music is on YouTube anyway. Either access the music on YouTube or use the Music app to access. What you would need to ask for is a YouTube subscription without any music access.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

Yes exactly

Uh, youtube premium is ad free...

Im one of these legacy users from google music, and youtube hasnt shown me an ad in nearly a decade...

Obviously other than the baked in ad reads by the youtubers themselves

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Yeah but premium has the other bundled shit I don't want. Just give me an ad free option

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago (2 children)

You know they aren’t forcing you to use the bundled stuff, right?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

But they shill it as benefit when many people have no benefit from the bundled shit they are being upsold on

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

But that affects the price being higher. If they just had a plan with ad free it would hopefully be cheaper than current premium (since no music streaming)

big talk from someone with McSwag in their username!

[–] [email protected] 21 points 5 days ago (2 children)

That's fine. Youtube is either free without ads, or non-existant. Hey, did you guys know adblock is a necessity in life? It's true.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Hey did you know with certain add-ons, you don't need YouTube premium? Just like back in the day when YouTube was just YouTube..

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago (5 children)

That's fine and easy on desktop/web browser, but for mobile devices it is not quite as easy. You would either need to use a hacked version of the app or a third party app.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

~~Hacked~~ improved with Revanced

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

I can recommend Unwatched wholeheartedly, great developer, but I only use yt for subs not algorithm

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

On mobile, I don’t use the app. I use safari + youtube.com with vinegar app and adguard.

No ads plus I get PIP. Quality is a hit or miss but idc about that.

Firefox browser w/ublock = YouTube with no ads.

I actually just have YouTube app disabled.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

On my phone, I just access YouTube through the firefox browser app with ublock origin installed. Works perfectly.

Or use NewPipe if you don't need to sync with your Google account.
