I don’t think Hedges really believes in a sky daddy, but he has deep ties to progressive mainline Protestantism, which gives him something of an inside view. (He’s also an inveterate liberal, so his works falter when it comes to class analysis. He’ll tell you almost everything that is wrong with capitalism at length, yet still suffers from capitalist realism.)
