I’m doing my best not tell this kid to go to fucking sleep. His mums already tapped out, the dogs are snoring, and I’m bored as shit cause I don’t wanna turn the tv on and distract him.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I used to play video games with my kids falling asleep on my my chest.

Skyrim on telly, baby in my lap.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 8 months ago

I finished Horizon Forbidden west like that. Sadly, he doesnt wanna be held to fall asleep any more.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You know all those story books you read to him before he was born? Well now is the time to dig deep into the memory bank and get creative. As long as it's in a soft voice who cares what you say. Once upon a time there was a troll who lived under the bridge who ate small children who didn't go to sleep.... blah blah blah

My go to was lyrics to songs. Mostly Tom Waits.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

I used to do sing wishlist to my daughter and she still gets shivers when she hears it

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Whack on an audiobook or ASMR, possibly snooze off beside him?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

radio and baby in my arms, both falling asleep

[–] [email protected] 7 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Just finished up dinner and trying to avoid going home. I can just hear the TS gig from my apartment and given how much time I've spent trying to get a ticket it just feels like I'm being taunted πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago

Grab a glass of wine, sit by an open window and enjoy what you can. πŸ€—

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

My first ever Vietnamese coffee

And oh boy was I mistaken. I thought it would be a delicate over sweet little coffee but oh no it's a punch to the head. Anyway I'm gonna be awake all night ladies and gentlemen. πŸ‘€

I also had a bath tub of delicious beef pho

The man had sweet and sour pork

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

what a delicious feast 😊

sweet and sour is one of my guilty pleasures

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

They make a really nice seafood sate that I dream about. Their fried rice is one of the best of ever had too.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 months ago

Still cleaning up the mess from the storms. Still no power either. I just want a nice relaxing weekend dammit

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 months ago

Devilled chicken on rice for din dins. My lovely neighbour gave me a whole shopping bag of beeyoutiful beefsteak tomatoes, so some of these will be fritters tomorrow. Draining the cut slices overnight in the fridge so batter won't be soggy. Having one in salad tonight with lettuce.

I believe I can say with all honesty until the previous 5 minutes I have never contemplated the logistics of shagging on back of a moose

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

We need some context here.

It begins with an /r post about a guy who wants to take an Xbox on his honeymoon

I'm in that bored and boring lull , the time when I;m still not well and my brain is now numb from not doing anyfing and sleeplessnessless

So I'm rewatching the Fargo series. Oh ya.

and it's making me wonder how dumb people really are , and that dumb people get promoted because it's dumb all the way up

anyhoo, I was trained in the sciences to analyse data in such a way that all data had to fit the hypothesis /narrative as well as fit known facts, no data left out

seem to me most those cops in the show don't get that training

and it's hard to see where dumb and sexist are two different things

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 months ago

Love Fargo, really great show. As a subjective empirical observation, I can confirm yes, there really are people that are that dumb, and yes they regularly get promoted. And yes, there are people who are so sexist (or homophobic, racist, or all three) that they would rather agree with and promote someone dumb than compromise a millimetre of their bigotry. The writing in fictionalshows like Fargo is so brilliant because it can highlight these traits by allowing them to run free in absurdist criminal storylines. The best fiction is always a keen observation of the truth of the human condition.

People at the gym with terrible form yet nonetheless look a million times better than I do

Irritates me.

These days I can't rule it out.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

even years ago when I was going to the gym

House this morning was shit, tiny tiny bedrooms (have a hilarious pic of the housemate with their arms out stretched almost touching two walls at once), mould in both bathrooms that had definitely made it's way deep into everything, and extremely old appliances (not overly a deal breaker but you just know it's probably going to break now you're the tenant).

On a better note, the hike went fantastic, just a little sore in my feet!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

This asbestos mulch situation is pretty awful. I suspect it’s no accident to have that many affected sites/batches of mulch. Someone has been dumping asbestos into the mulch process to avoid paying the proper fees to dispose of it? I hope it’s investigated thoroughly. Sadly the environmental laws in aus are weak and poorly enforced.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

What's needed is testing for stuff going INTO the mulching process. Which won't happen cos expensive.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

Agree this seems unlikely.

Snuggling with the hairy baby. I love my cat.

Another rest day. Nearly better and have to be sure not to cause relapses.

I have not watched lotr or the hobbit in 4 weeks. πŸ˜‚ maybe 10 minutes

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

I went to a short course about the local wildlife and birds this morning. Was daunting (I have been in an introvert hole lately) but was really interesting and the people were nice too. Now celebrating with a late lunch in the sun 🌞

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Hit 3 personal bests at the gym today so in celebration, I'm doing nothing but sitting in bed reading and playing with Gibson.

And maybe some video games and guitar later.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Is your guitar also a Gibson?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

It is!!! But its their budget brand they call Epiphone.

Good to see my lizard friends still doing well in my backyard, hadn’t heard from him in a few weeks. He went in the garage to do some … thing.

Lil’ bird buddies still around as well and still very curious about me every time I come out. Set up my dogs outside watering bowl that he never uses as a bird bath and I’m seeing lots of these blackbirds and native pigeons using it to splash around in.

Also planted some native flowers I had seeds for in some boxes around the yard to help encourage some more bugs to come visit.

City and PT busy af. Swifties everywhere

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Compounded with the St Kilda festival.

I decided not to go out today due to all of that.

Was tired too so asked my friend if we could meet up next week instead.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I wish I had that foresight! Actually it's not too bad. Beautiful weather. Just lots of peeps!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

Unfortunately Chadstone was bad too. I forgot how many interstatera came for Swifty.

The parking situation at Chadstone was like it was peak Christmas because of the influx of travellers.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I wanted to go to Prahan today, but I cbf dealing with the PT. Blehhhhh

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago

I should go out tonight. I'm all about basic white girls lol

[–] [email protected] 8 points 9 months ago

Do not confront them. They will eat you alive.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

Today's attempt at scones with jam and cream was much more successful than yesterday. No cheese or chives in evidence.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Got last minute tickets to Swift last night. Great show but my god the noise of 96k people screaming. My ears got blasted.

Bit of a crowd crush outside the ground after the show but other than that, it was all pretty orderly for that many people.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago

I'm glad you had a good time.
