Final (?) Debate thread before the election in 35 days.

Debate begins at 9 PM Eastern, 6 PM Pacific and runs 90 minutes.

Vice Presidential debates are always tricky since nobody has voted for Vice President in living memory.

Expect Vance to attack Walz on his military service.

Expect Walz to attack Vance on the whole "immigrants eating cats and dogs" thing.

Expect Vance to attack Walz on being an assistant coach, at best.

Expect Walz to roll out "Weird!" at least once.

CBS has announced the burden of fact checking will be on the candidates themselves.

How to watch here:

Edit Impressive how a debate can go when one participant doesn't have mental health issues! Thanks for coming everybody!

I will say, I'm enjoying this debate more than I thought I would, simply because the moderators seem competent and both debaters are behaving like actual adults, even if Vance is a makeup-wearing Yale-bot.

Lol.. number one export being top soil from flooding.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

woohoo. walz brought up the bill and how its doing the things vance is suggested they are not doing. looking good.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

but Trump isn’t actually going to work to make solar panels in the US or anywhere. This is a non answer that “they haven’t solved all the problems, so we should do nothing.”

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

Solar panels from China make “dirty” clean energy, while American fossil fuels create “clean” dirty energy.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Is he capable of answering a single question? This is just tedious.

Trump said blah, pls respond. Lol no, here’s what I imagine Kamala might do in some alternate reality.

"Our number one export cannot be topsoil" - Walz

That is a hell of a good line.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

agreed he has had a nice steady heat up since it started and its getting good.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

now vance is trying to make it that its the democrats who don't believe in climate change. His argument is ridiculous given the signature ombudsman bill.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

It’s great that vance keeps heaping responsibility on Harris for events that happened while she was VP, events which were nothing a VP could affect.

Also, the world was “stable” under trump because tens of millions of people were dying from covid and the world was locked down. If trump wants to take responsibility for the covid virus, go for it.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Walz hitting his stride now

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Walz pointing out that Trump jokes about big storms creating more beachfront property.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This is marketing word salad, which is all you can expect from someone like Vance.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, I honestly tried to follow his answer, and couldn't. It was delivered smoothly, and didn't mean anything.

This clown just going to pretend he’s a democrat for this answer?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Really, by getting rid of the EPA?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Vance isn't sounding quite as robotic now.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

Ouch on calling other parts of the world dirty

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"We're the cleanest economy in the entire world." What the fuck does that mean?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

The US pollutes cleanly while other countries pollute in a dirty way. Carbon is pro-America.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

woohoo. vance. lets just say its true carbon emissions cause global warming. lets just say.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Your running mate tried to refuse aid to natural disasters a few years ago to areas that didn’t rim him hard enough. Were you not paying attention?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

Here we go. Thoughts and prayers.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Why does Vance look so airbrushed?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

Because he's younger.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

I think his suit is ill fitting. Maybe this is a Republican thing tho. Trump always wears suits that’s too big for him.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

That was a weirdly meandering non-answer.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Vance trying hard to pull off Kamala’s faces from the last debate and only looking constipated.

first of all let me not answer the question and go off on a tangent.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

Walz suddenly appears in the followup.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yup. Keep going Walz, attack Trump over and over. That's all you need to do.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

Walz looked a little nervous at first, but has settled in and is on target.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Walz pointing out that Trump does diplomacy by tweet.

[–] [email protected] -4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Vance won that round. He's just a much more polished speaker/debater.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

I disagree. Maybe a tie, which I feel is taken with trump/vance as a win as the expectation is they will do aweful. Vance is tangenting pretty bad now.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

Yeah, although it was oddly close.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Ha, Walz didn’t just accuse trump of being an agent of chaos – he used YOUR words to point that out, idiot.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

No one’s answering the question.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

What is Vance talking about?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

did vance just say he thought the american people don't know much about him or waltz???

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Honestly this is an echo chamber and it gives you the idea that people are paying attention. Ask any rando walking down the street and they probably won't know them.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago
[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

I need Vance’s makeup artist

But seriously , why is he dodging the question?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Vance is... just not answering the question. His delivery is weirdly robotic.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

He's almost literally doing the robot.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Vance has only been speaking for a few minutes and it already looks like he has robot hands.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

His robot hands are really amusing me.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

He’s not going to answer the question….

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

In the defense neither did or will
