MODERATORS

Final (?) Debate thread before the election in 35 days.

Debate begins at 9 PM Eastern, 6 PM Pacific and runs 90 minutes.

Vice Presidential debates are always tricky since nobody has voted for Vice President in living memory.

Expect Vance to attack Walz on his military service.

Expect Walz to attack Vance on the whole "immigrants eating cats and dogs" thing.

Expect Vance to attack Walz on being an assistant coach, at best.

Expect Walz to roll out "Weird!" at least once.

CBS has announced the burden of fact checking will be on the candidates themselves.

How to watch here:

Edit Impressive how a debate can go when one participant doesn't have mental health issues! Thanks for coming everybody!

Walz answer was really good.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Walz has the receipts on improving the lives of the middle class.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Thank god, they actually muted!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Yeah, once Walz started talking after they let Vance say his whole point.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

Too little too late lol

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Why always do this crap, where they act like they're not going to let just babble at their leisure and then they just do it anyway.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 months ago

Mics got cut. Nice.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Ouch on the Haitian call.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 months ago

LOL! "Thank you, senator, for describing the legal process."

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Yeah, but then they cut their mics. Which was hilarious.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

They got it back. Mics got cut.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Vance talking over the moderators, now. That won't play well.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

I wish this was true....

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Vance is slick, but Walz is honest. I hope people can see the difference.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 months ago

Oh nice! Walz mentioned Wall Street speculators driving up housing prices. Then he literally quoted the Bible.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

Does Congress need to pass bills to help border patrol?

Vance: The president has to solve it by helping law enforcement.

JD, isn't that what the bill passing through Congress would do?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Springfield Ohio.

Please bring up cats and dogs. You know you want to. Fucking racist.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

We're ~25 minutes in, and so far I would say this debate is close, but Walz is edging out Vance. He's not as polished, but he's coming across as more genuine, and he's directly answering.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

There's also the fact the JD is lying.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Funnily enough, I think Vance had a savvy answer on climate change and Walz has dominated on immigration

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

You mean like the fucking bill Trump killed!? Ok i am done. I’ve seen enough

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago

walz is owning this one. he is doing great and vance goes between evading and just lying. Hes better and more consistent with his lies which makes this no where near as entertaining as the presidential debate.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

What the fuck does empowering the border agents mean? They are doing their jobs.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Walz just comes off as so goddamn nice. I wish I could meet him in person.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

Walz just dropped the pet eating bomb back on JDs head.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Wtf is Vance talking about? So he’s going to continue separating families, got it.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

He simply refused to answer.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Walz doing great going after Trump.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

exactly . Trump wants issues to run on, not solutions. We just saw this as he tried to manipulate the senate to not fix things so he’d have the problem to rail against and run on. This is anti-American.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

Walz nailed the immigration question. Vance is making up lies and using buzzwords.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

And Vance is simply refusing to answer the question about child separation. He simply won't.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

A winning comment by Walz here.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Walz directly quoting Trump's promises about the wall, including the "Mexico will pay for it."

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

folks folks folks

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

The borders aren’t open, you numpty twat. Just keep lying.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Do you live near the southern border? No one disagrees that there are serious difficulties with border enforcement and illegal immigration right now. They're debating what to do about it. I would honestly encourage you to follow more reporting on border issues. Like actual reportage, not commentary. It's rough.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I grew up in Phoenix, and we had a home in Puerto Penasco Mexico, so yeah. You don’t know me, so don’t assume I don’t know what I’m talking about. I don’t say things I can’t source, thanks.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

You should look up what a question mark means. Relax.

yeah the problem here is vance says things that could be decent. if they were actually true. walz is doing great but how do you debate just made up crap.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago

vance is hilarious suggesting you get rid of the workers by deporting them. Obama showed you have to go after the employers which actually works.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago

Vance: "Build the wall."

Yeah, no... I don't think you understand how big the southern border is or what terrain it's on, pal.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Trump got the house republicans to turn against their own bipartisan immigration bill so he can run on the issue. Hammer that hard.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Another non answer. No plan

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Good lord. Can he answer ONE FUCKING QUESTION? Just one.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

Vance completely avoided that subject
