just thought that the concept of "replicator will end scarcity" is wrong.
we have done the same with music and digital media.
at the beginning you had to buy physical media. but then we developed a way to end scarcity and have unlimited music for free. and it was immediately turned into a crime.
i guarantee that if we invent replicators, they'll we have DRM and licences and you'll have to buy a license or a subscription service.
There's a good short story by Cory Doctorow called Printcrime about how the liberal state would react to replicators.

This is where I feel like so many people are genuinely not curious at all. I think socialism has more to say about ones individual autonomy than capitalism. Even by practical example you can talk about China and their capacity to choose between home ownership or renting. How about your ability to travel? Take risks without ending up in a billion dollars of medical debt? Entrepreneurship? They disrupted an industry and made a better LLM! Even fundamentally, your freedom to play a battle royale in a shrinking zone of habitability on a boiling planet seems less free than if you had a mandated bedtime and got kicked out of a restaurant for saying the N word.

And then it's literally centuries more before humans are actually using replicators. Archer's ship has a cook, Kirk's has protein resequencers that make brightly colored edible cubes of something.
Almost like a technological advance like matter replication can only be developed by a post-capitalist society, or it would just be immediately restricted to the elite of society and used to maintain capitalist relations

Besides the obvious lack of understanding of political economy, there's repetition of a widespread misunderstanding of Trek. The idea that the Federation's socialism is only enabled by replicators. Replicators aren't invented until sometime between the TOS movie era and TNG, so the early 24th century. Earth is clearly post-capitalist by the mid 22nd. Vulcan had been socialist since the Age of Awakening, around the 4th century.
It's not just wrong, it's exactly backwards. Replicators under capitalism wouldn't technologically enable socialism, they would be controlled by capitalists.
