No one can forecast snow in the UK unless it's already snowing.
United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in [email protected] or [email protected]
More serious politics should go in [email protected].
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
Sites like Birmingham Mail know they can get lots of clicks cherry-picking outlier forecast models, so they can run alarmist click bait headlines.
They do it again and again
Typical monstrous Brummies being all like "yow alright".
Oh, I'm not going to blame it on the Brummies. It's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reach_plc Reach's business model, they are a tiny cog.
On a tangential note: got caught out be it saying "next Saturday" is the 24th. I know that this is common terminology, but to me next feels like it means soonest, and I know I'm not the only one.
Fuck off with these TERRIBLE SNOW forecasts then putting
"As much as 5mm and 10mm is anticipated in the North East, which will be the worst-hit and see the brunt of the downturn in conditions. "
Fuck
Off
Talking in mm like it's gonna be loads of fucking snow.
Clickbait cunts
Yeah, I thought I was misreading when it said 5-10mm. I was hoping for 2010 levels of snow with that headline and the way the article was building it up.
It's been getting this way for a while. It's getting to the point where we're having SNOWSTORM predictions every week, and when you have a read it'll be a little flurry overnight.
So I guess we just ignore weather warnings now because they'll most likely just be clickbait
Is weather predictable and reliable 10 days out anywhere? We just had a snow storm that left the projected path drastically 12 hours before it hit.
