I used to use YouTube Downloader but it seems to have shit the bed and isn't updated.

Wondering if anyone has any recommended Android app they use and a URL to download said app?

The best way to download YouTube videos is Yt-dlp, and the best way to use it on android is trough this app : https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/com.deniscerri.ytdl

If you want something fancy, check out Seal or YTDLnis. I simply use yt-dlp in a Termux session.

NewPipe and forks of it like Tubular also have a download feature.

Is there a reason one would use yt-dlp instead of the many other easier options, really wondering what Im missing. There's Seal , newpipe and others

There's a lot of downstream applications that do just use yt-dlp behind the scenes. I'm pretty sure that's how Invidious' download function works. It also supports a metric shitload more services: https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/blob/master/supportedsites.md

Not one in particular, just the first thing that came to mind since I use it a lot on linux. I even use NewPipe on android, didn't even remember it had an option to download

I made a rough guide of my setup for someone wanting to download videos from their browser. Since Seal uses yt-dlp, it will work with Youtube as well.

Hope this can help you out

Been using Seal for a long time now, works pretty well. Nice mobile interface as well.

Not used this but it seems like a wrapper for YT-DLP for Android which I use all the time on the desktop:

YTDLnis (Android Video/Audio Downloader app using yt-dlp) https://f-droid.org/packages/com.deniscerri.ytdl/

??? No such App found is all I get. Do I need to add another repo to find it ?

It's on izzyondroid repo: https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/com.deniscerri.ytdl

Also I highly reccomend it, it even integrates sponsorblock so you can download only the parts without ads or intros.

I searched for "YTDLnis" inside my F-Droid client (Droid-ify) and it worked.

YTDLnis the best yt-dlp frontend for Android. I use it for some time

I mostly use websites for this or my computer with jdownloader.

Yeah but I'd be be out, hear a song, download it and then it's on my playlist minutes later as an MP3.

Newpipe does M4A only AFAIK (recommended by another user)
