You see this a lot on YouTube, these sloptuber dipshits (MoistCritikal,etc.) that just say what's on their mind and are regarded as truth tellers because they're not "biased" or burdened by any actual knowledge in anything. He was the only person in the world that was able to make mmo content interesting as a stream so he got to monopolise most of the mmo twitch audience. Yeah there were people making interesting youtube content for mmos, but live streams almost all failed because mmo's have enormous amounts of downtime and aren't generally about doing dungeon run after dungeon run after dungeon run. The downtime and social element makes them less interesting to twitch audiences.
Then he built it into a reactionary crowd through being a smelly edgelord that lives with rats and cockroaches.
Then he transitioned into politics.
I just assume a large percentage of his viewers see him as a freakshow and are watching him purely for the novelty of seeing a human cockroach, but many of them will turn because their main form of social interaction is him and his chat.
I don't think it's a freakshow. I think he looks like them and he tells them all the features of themselves that the rest of society shames them for are actually things they should wear openly and be proud of. It's the same behaviour as incels finding one another and grouping up in their hate spaces.

My pop psychology take on it is that his fanbase does not want to see aspirational media. They don't want to see anything from Drive to Dragon Ball Z and say "that, I want to be like that."
They're all largely blackpilled. Rejected by society and they reject society back. And want to see themselves on the stream. Someone just as given up on life, bitter and resentful and yet even with all that, somehow still living the "dream" of streaming for a living. They take comfort that he grosses out normies and is inexplicable to people outside his fanbase; the negative polarization problem at its peak. He makes the people they hate uncomfortable and confused, so he must be doing something right.
