J.D. Vance has joined the chorus of conservatives who have begun claiming that President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race constitutes a so-called “coup” in the Democratic Party.

In an interview filmed on Saturday with Fox News’s Jesse Watters, a clip of which aired on Fox & Friends Monday morning, Watters asked former President Donald Trump and his newly minted running mate, Vance, the new question plaguing Republicans: “Is it a coup against Joe Biden?” Both of them fumbled their answers.

“Uh, sort of,” Trump said unsure, looking over to Vance for explanation.

If you want me to be perfectly honest I’m not thrilled that essentially my vote for Biden in the primaries isn’t going to count - that does rub me the wrong way. But fuck it, idgaf let’s go Kamala! Rebpublicans can take their fake outrage at gtfo.

Biden running against Trump and winning legitimately in 2020 they called a coup too, and they said Jan 6th wasn't one. At some point they just show they don't understand the meaning of the word.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 3 months ago

No the point is to use the word so often that it loses its meaning and then anyone who uses it will be instantly written off.

I thought that Trump would be happy and gloating. But he's mad about it, which is a great sign

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

He's mad because he knows how to run against Biden. With Kamala, all his attention is going to be focused on not calling her a "n****r whore" out loud.

Personally, I don't think he can hold it in until the election.

Deal with it, bitches. The fact that every right winger is repeating the coup talking point tells you everything you need to know. They are in absolute panic mode.

Biden's decision to step down isn't in any way an acknowledgement that he is unfit to serve it is more so a decision right or wrong that he would lose whether it be for his poor performance at the debate, gaffes, or age. With the Democrats pushing in the same direction this could have become a self fulfilling prophesy.

There is no reason to believe he can't both stay in office AND step down in favor of Harris. It has always been acknowledged that parties have a broad latitude to select their candidate and ultimately the people will decide.

They're trying to launder out the word 'coup' so it can't be used to describe their insurrection.

In a similar fashion, 'literally' now means its exact opposite, according to dictionaries like the one that broke English.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Why they so mad, bro?

[–] [email protected] 27 points 3 months ago

We are going to see lots of this type of bullshit.

It's the GOP and related "news" outlets that are throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They know it's not a coup, they are diluting the meaning of the word. Since they likely plan to use another coup attempt if they lose.

Well, at least THIS time we can call in some fucking muscle to put that shit right down. I hope to god they lose and try something dumb and this time we are ready for them - even arrest/disrupt them prior, ideally. Get more of them in the prison industrial complex and keep them out of politics.

I also hope they lose so that the J6 insurrectionists don't get pardoned by that asshat donnie.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Is it bad of me for kinda wanting to see the military drop napalm on them if they try that shit again. Like as someone who knows about Blai Mountain I know its a bad thing, but also fuckem the welps would support far worse that a bit of napalm and ad hoc skin liquefaction.

More stochastic terrorism, wooh.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago

For their sanity, Donald should drop out of the race.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

"It's a coup! Because I don't want to face her in any debates!"

GOP: “Biden isn’t fit to serve, he should get out”

Biden: Gets out, and tags the presidential backup everyone elected in the last general

GOP: “CoUp!”
